The Dawn of Plasma (BETA)

SUMMARY

This mod offers a full campaign with new units, zombies, maps, and other mechanics. It features Quintus, a brand new hero. Quintus uses chain lightning in his attacks and has a full skill tree.

Most missions are the typical wave based colony missions with some new objectives. There are no hero missions, build only missions, or swarm missions.

This mod aims to be unique and add build variety so be ready to learn a new way to play.

I tried my best to optimize the mod to work with average computers (mine is average and it runs well).

BETA

All 13 maps are completed and playable currently. This beta is for balancing, polishing, and bug fixing. If you are playing the beta, I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

There's a lot of moving parts so if I break something while trying to fix something else, I apologize.

There are some missing assets like sounds, voice lines, and unit portraits. These will be added in the future.

English is the only supported language currently. In the full release there will be more.

CONTENT

- 13 maps total (9 completely new and 4 reworked)

- A brand new Hero unit (Quintus)

DIFFICULTY

This campaign is harder than the normal campaign but you do not have to play with max efficiency to win on 800%. That being said, you have to learn new units, buildings, and enemies so there will be a learning curve.

There are settings in the Research Tree to adjust difficulty for lower levels similar to how the base game treats Mutants and Giants. I am balancing the campaign around 800%, so I'm not sure how lower difficulties will play out.

STORY

This is not much of a story-based campaign. Most of it is implied or vague but I do plan on adding some more lore drops later on.

Quintus (the Emperor) has taken the apocalypse into his own hands. He has developed technology to harness Plasma, an extremely dense power source. Throughout his journey, a new parasite is discovered that targets the known infection and mutates it further.

INCLUDED MODS

-TAB Helper by JKstring. This adds some quality of life settings like toggling health bars, find and enter towers, or distribute training evenly between Soldiers Center.

-No Screen Shake by JKstring. This removes screen shake from the game.

-The enlarged Research tree is from SomeSkilledRequired's New Light Campaign. This is not a standalone mod currently.

INSTALLATION

Jkstring's mod loader required from codeberg.

Local installation folder:  Right click on the game in Steam... Manage->Browse Local Files

Dawn of Plasma Installation

- Download and unzip the Dawn of Plasma folder (in the Nexus Mods Files tab)

- Copy and paste everything in Dawn of Plasma/They are Billions into the local They are Billions folder.

- Play!

The only file replaced is zxgame.prj (besides the mod loader replacing the main .exe). This will still be active even if modding is disabled. It shouldn't affect vanilla s
