📋 About This Mod
Adds a Minor Pets tab to the Collection Journal that counts every rodent, lizard, snake, turtle and bird your Sims have collected, plus a Wildflowers tab with Seasons, with collector challenges that reward a complete set with lifetime
Nature Collector
The Collection Journal tracks every insect, gem and metal your Sims find, but ignores the small animals and flowers they collect. Nature Collector adds them.
Minor Pets tab (requires Pets)
A new tab in the Collection Journal lists every rodent, lizard, snake, turtle and bird species in your game. It shows how many of each the selected Sim has obtained. A pet counts in any of these cases:
- the Sim catches it in the wild;
- the Sim stocks it in a terrarium or bird cage;
- the Sim picks up a cat's gift;
- the pet enters the Sim's inventory in any other way.
Each Sim has their own counts, as with the vanilla collectibles. Each animal counts once per Sim, so moving the same pet in and out of the inventory does not increase the count. Species you haven't found yet are greyed out, the same as in the vanilla tabs.
Wildflowers tab (requires Seasons)
With Seasons installed, a second tab lists the 8 wildflowers. It shows how many of each the Sim has picked. Only flowers the Sim picks count. Flowers that are bought, received as gifts or already in the inventory do not.
Collecting skill statistics
The Stats tab of the Collection Journal, and the Collecting page of the Skills Journal, show two new lines for each group: how many specimens the Sim has obtained, and what percentage of the group's species they have discovered. The groups are rodents, lizards, snakes, turtles, birds and wildflowers.
Collector challenges
- Each group has its own challenge: obtain every species of that group installed in your game. The record column of the mod's tabs shows its progress, for example "Challenge: 5/7".
- Complete all the group challenges to earn Great Nature Collector, which appears with the vanilla Collecting challenges.
- Each completed challenge gives 1,000 lifetime happiness points and the Proud Collector moodlet (+20 for 24 hours), with the vanilla notification and sound.
- A completed challenge stays completed, even if you install a pack that adds new species later.
Compatibility
- The mod only adds to the game and replaces no EA resource. It works with any combination of packs. Groups and species that you don't have installed do not appear.
- It does not work with mods that replace the Collection Journal with their own window.
- Counting starts when you install the mod. Pets your Sims already owned are not counted.
- Languages: English and Italian.
Copy TS3NatureCollector.package into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\. Your Mods folder must already be set up for script mods.
Delete the package. Saves still load, but the mod's counts and challenges are lost.
Known limits
- A Sim who completes a challenge while not selectable gets the reward when they next become selectable, but without the notification.
- After you remove the mod, the game can skip or repeat the notification of a vanilla Collecting challenge.
