CAS Curator

Description

CAS Curator is a standalone Windows utility for organising The Sims 3 CAS custom content.

It is designed for players with large .package collections who want a clearer way to see what they have, search their CAS CC, inspect package previews and supported CAS metadata, organise packages into profiles, and safely sort files without relying on filenames to decide what a package contains.

CAS Curator builds and works from a Master Database (MDB) containing your CAS packages. You can create a new MDB directly inside the program, or open an existing one.

The Library provides both table and gallery-style browsing, package thumbnails, search and filtering, editable organisational fields, profiles, pinned packages, configurable columns, and multiple interface themes.

The scanner reads supported information directly from the package itself. This includes supported CAS type information, CASP Instance IDs, highest mesh poly count from readable GEOM resources, package hash, scan time, and supported dedicated package previews.

Package filenames are not used to guess CAS type or other classifications. If CAS Curator cannot validate something from supported package data, it leaves that information unknown rather than inventing a result.

CAS Curator can extract supported dedicated THUM, ICON and SNAP preview resources from packages. Existing extracted thumbnails are reused on later scans. If a package does not contain a usable automatic preview, you can add your own JPG or PNG image manually.

CAS Curator also includes file-sorting and recovery tools so packages can be organised into folders while retaining a record of the move.

Installation

  []Extract the entire ZIP to a normal folder on your computer.[/]

  []Run CAS_Curator.exe.[/]

CAS Curator is a standalone program. Do not place it in your Sims 3 Mods folder.

No Python installation is required.

First time using CAS Curator

If you do not already have a Master Database:

• []Open CAS Curator.[/]

  []Choose Create new MDB...[/]

  []Select where you want the database saved.[/]

  []Choose the folder containing the CAS .package files you want to scan.[/]

  []Run the scan.[/]

CAS Curator will populate the new database from the packages it finds and generate supported package information.

The last-used MDB can be remembered and reopened on future launches. You can open a different MDB at any time.

About thumbnails

CAS Curator looks specifically for supported dedicated package preview resources rather than selecting arbitrary IMG textures.

If a supported automatic preview is available, it is extracted during Scan. Existing extracted previews are reused on later scans.

If no suitable package preview exists, select the package, open Edit, and use Add / Replace image... to choose your own JPG or PNG preview.

Manually added images are preserved when the package is rescanned.

About scan results

CAS Curator v1. 0 uses a deliberately conservative scanner.

It only records classifications and metadata that can be supported by the package data currently handled by the release scanner. Unsupported or uncertain info
