Natural ReShade for The Last of Us Part II

I created this ReShade preset to look natural and clean. It's not much but it does enough that the game feels "enhanced" without affecting the original art style of the game. I don't want to make it seem like all you're looking at is the post processing. I don't want to use an excessive amount. The idea is to have just enough that you can tell the effects are there without going over the top. This ReShade slightly enhances the lighting. That is the only thing it does. ReShade is good at enhancing the lighting. I did not use any shaders that alter the brightness, contrast, or colors in any way. No lens effects were used like chromatic aberration, lens dirt, lens flare, or depth of field. No, I did not use any sharpening or film grain either. Another big priority for this ReShade was to reduce artifacts as much as possible.

So that means reducing artifacts like flickering, color banding, and clipping. I also chose not to use any depth shaders mainly because of artifacts with the depth buffer such as flickering and misalignment at the edges of the screen. My primary focus is to just enhance the game and not try and heavily alter the game's original art style or appearance. All screenshots were captured in 4k HDR using Special K screenshot capture with scRGB HDR (16-bit). Special K then tonemaps the picture to SDR in PNG format. I also am using nvidia profile inspector to force 16x anisotropic filtering, HBAO+, RTX Dynamic Vibrance, and DLSS transformer model preset K using DLAA anti aliasing mode. Everything was done on Windows 11 24H2.

ReShade Installation:

• []Download the files and drag the 'ReShade Presets' folder, 'ReShade.ini', and 'ReShade2.ini' files to the game installation directory located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Last of Us Part II or wherever your game is installed to

  []Download ReShade

  []Open ReShade and select The Last of Us™ Part II (tlou-ii.exe)

  []Click next

  []Rendering API should be automatically selected (Microsoft DirectX 10/11/12)

  []Click next

  []If you installed the files correctly the preset The Last of Us Part II SDR should already be selected and have the effects selected. If it's not click on Browse and select the preset located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Last of Us Part II\ReShade Presets\The Last of Us Part II SDR.ini or wherever your game is installed to

  []Click finish

  []Done.

  After doing that ReShade will automatically load the preset upon opening the game and should already be running in performance mode for optimal performance. You don't even need to change which preset to use because I set it up so that ReShade will automatically select the correct preset whether you're playing in SDR or HDR.
