The Forever Winter - Vortex Extension

Description

Adds beta Vortex mod manager support for The Forever Winter.

This extension allows Vortex to detect and manage The Forever Winter, install common mod archive layouts, create the expected PAK Mods folder, and support several modding patterns used by the community.

The Forever Winter is still in Early Access, so game updates may break mods or change how mod loading works. Treat this extension as beta support and verify your installed mods after major game patches.

This extension does not include or redistribute third-party mods, UE4SS, Signature Bypass files, or game assets.

Installation instructions

• []Download the extension ZIP from the Files tab.[/]

  []Go to Home[/]

  []Go to Extensions.[/]

  []Drag the downloaded ZIP into Vortex, or use Install From File.[/]

  []Restart Vortex when prompted.[/]

  []Search for and manage The Forever Winter in Vortex.[/]

  []Set the game path if Vortex does not detect it automatically.[/]

  [](Optional) install TFWWorkbench by smotti using "Install From File" in Vortex > The Forever Winter > Mods.[/]

After installation, Vortex should be able to manage mods for The Forever Winter and create the common mod folder structure used by PAK-based mods.

Important update note for 0. 0. 6

If you are updating from an older version of this extension, fully remove and reinstall affected mods after updating the extension.

Recommended update steps:

  []In The Forever Winter > Mods, fully remove affected installed mods, especially UE4SS, Signature Bypass, TFWWorkbench, UE4SS mods, and PAK mods installed before 0. 0. 6.[/]

  []Reinstall those mods from their archives.[/]

  []Purge and redeploy.[/]

  Do not only disable/enable mods or toggle a collection after updating. Vortex may preserve old staged install output from previous extension versions, including missing UE4SS loader files or PAK files routed to the wrong folder.

  Some mods may require Signature Bypass, UE4SS, or both. This extension can help route those files when installed through Vortex, but it does not provide them.

  Always check the requirements listed by the individual mod author before installing a mod.
