While the introduction of the large cruiser was a resounding success, the Board of Admirals saw the need for a true bridge to the gap which sat in between destroyer and dreadnought. The solution needed to be quicker and more maneuverable than battleships, but holding more firepower than a destroyer or frigate. Taking inspiration from the Chicago class of large cruisers, it was decided that the ship would be a heavy cruiser. Called the Trenton class, these sleek vessels are very fast, maneuverable, and offer good protection. Boasting a large arsenal of available weapons means that the Trenton is able to deal with threats of all kinds, air or land. They pack 6 Hawkeye Mk3 Battleship cannons in 3 double turrets, 8 Venture Avalanche launchers and 2 dozen Hawkeye Cruise missiles for the effective engagement of threats at great ranges. On the broadsides of the ship are 16 Venture Cluster Missile Launchers. These nimble missiles allow for the suppression of enemy craft at any angle relative to the ship at close to medium ranges, giving the Trenton the tools it needs to insure that she’ll never back down from a fight! Defensively, the Trenton makes good use of layered repair bubbles backed up by great shield coverage. Drawing power from a pool of over 120 Hawkeye Ion Batteries ensures that this cruiser will keep its defenses active for several day cycles before it needs recharging. This large power reserve does well to keep the ship intact through even the heaviest fighting. A massive trio of engines and heavy boosters ramps this ship up to speeds of over 85 mph! Efficient booster design allows for flank speed to be maintained for over a minute, giving the Trenton one of the highest speed endurances in the whole Navy!
