Better Upscaling

This mod adds native AMD FSR (3. 1. 5 and 4) and Intel XeSS upscaling to the game, while improving the DLSS integration the game already comes with. It also supports DLAA, FSR Native AA, and XeSS Native AA.

They're directly integrated with the game's existing "Upscaling" setting, sitting right beside the existing STP and DLSS options. You would never guess it was a mod if you didn't already know!

Again, it's native upscaling, driven by the engine's own motion vector, depth, and color information. It's not a driver hack, and it's not using OptiScaler.

FSR and XeSS run on NVIDIA, AMD and Intel cards alike. FSR uses the version AMD picks for your card: FSR 4 on Radeon RX 9000 cards, FSR 3. 1 on everything else.

The mod ships a newer DLSS version (310. 9. 1) than the one the game ships with.

It's the perfect companion mod to my Frame Generation mod, which brings native DLSS, FSR, and XeSS Frame Generation to the game, including the latest features such as dynamic multi-frame generation.

Quality Modes? Where's my percentage slider?

The mod offers the quality modes the different upscalers provides, such as "Quality", "Balanced" and "Performance", instead of a generic percentage slider. This change was made for DLSS too. The percentage slider is still offered for STP.

There are three primary reasons for this:

  • []Different upscaling methods, like DLSS, may use and recommend different models/presets internally at different quality modes. For example, NVIDIA recommends Preset K in "Quality" mode, and preset M in "Performance" mode.[/]

[]Different upscaling methods, like DLSS, allows overriding the internal render resolution for selected quality modes at the driver levels.[/]

[]Each vendor recommends its own render resolution for each mode, so the same mode gives you a similar balance of image quality and performance, whichever upscaler you pick. XeSS, for example, costs more than FSR at the same render resolution, but it reconstructs a better image. That's why XeSS Performance renders at 43. 5% of your screen's width and height, and FSR Performance at 50%. Working with modes makes it easier to easily switch between providers.[/]

Part of the game's own graphics settings

All options live in the game's own Video settings:

    • []Upscaling: The game's Upscaling setting, now with FSR and XeSS after None and STP. Choices your card can't run are left out, the same way the game leaves out DLSS on cards without it.[/]

[]Quality Mode: For DLSS, FSR and XeSS, the upscaler's own quality modes are being offered. You only see the modes your card and that upscaler actually offer, so DLSS can show DLAA, and XeSS has a few more modes than FSR.[/]

[]FSR Sharpness: FSR's own sharpening, from 0% (off) to 100%. It starts at 50%. It only shows up for FSR, since DLSS and XeSS don't have sharpening of their own anymore.[/]

The game remembers your choice like any other setting. If you remove the mod, the game goes back to its own default upscaler.

If you use FoA Mod Manager, it shows the same options with the same choices, and a change in one place shows up in the other.

    Compatibility

    • []Works with my Frame Generation mod.[/]

[]Works with RenoDX HDR and ReShade.[/]

[]Works with the RenoDX DLSS 5 addon, so long as you use DLSS upscaling.[/]

[]Works with FoA Mod Manager (see above).[/]

      []OptiScaler isn't supported (see below).[/]

If you used OptiScaler before, remove it completely from your game folder before you install this mod. There's a "Remove Optiscaler.bat" file in your game directory you need to run to ensure it's fully gone from your game directory. Verifying the game files or reinstall the game to be sure everything is clean.

      Installation

This mod supports both the standard version of the game, as well as the special 'modding' version built for the special 'mono' branch of the game, that you can opt into via Steam.

Make sure to download the version of the mod that matches your game.

As a rule of thumb, if you just installed the game and aren't sure, you're going to want to use the BepInEx 6 (Normal/IL2CPP branch) version, as that matches the default game version.

You can use this mod on its own. If you also use my [url=https://www.nexusmods.co
