The action takes place in the city of Mordheim, a city devastated by the fall of a comet that brought with it fragments of a mysterious mineral (Wyrdstone) from which strange energies emanated. The magical properties of this mineral quickly made it a more valuable resource than gold. Mordheim is a game for two or more players. Each player controls a warband made up of a group of heroes and henchmen who fight as a tactical unit, taking advantage of the environment, with actions such as gaining high positions, occupying key points or seeking cover behind elements of the terrain. Each member of the warband has attributes, skills and equipment that allow them to carry out specific tasks. Each type of warband has its strengths and weaknesses. This is reflected in the game in different ways, such as the number of total warriors, special abilities, cost, movement, etc. You can play isolated encounters, but usually it is played through a campaign system, where some games influence the following, and the aim is not to win each individual game, but to establish a strategy to get to prevail in the campaign to the rest of the players, generally aiming to accumulate more Wyrdstone than rivals or to earn more victory points by completing objectives. Throughout the campaign, the warband suffers casualties and recruits reinforcements, and each member gains experience and evolves as the games progress, improving (or deteriorating) their attributes, and acquiring new skills and equipment. Mordheim is played on a board composed of elements of scenery created by the players, simulating a medieval city in ruins. Miniatures are displayed to represent one of the members of your warband.
