Back up your saves

StoneshardMP is in alpha and changes how the game's saves are made and loaded. Before installing, back up your save folder:

• []Host: your world save also stores the other players' characters, and anything synced from them (quests, contracts, loot, area changes) is saved into your world.

  Clients: You do not and should not create any save files, everything should be stored on the host PC.[/]

  []A bug in multiplayer can end up in your save, for example duplicated items or a messed-up area. Keep backups, and use a separate character or world for multiplayer if you care about your solo run.[/]

  []Saves made while playing with the mod may not load correctly without it, so keep your backups if you might uninstall later.[/]

Description

StoneshardMP adds co-op multiplayer to Stoneshard. Up to 4 players share one world: the host's. You see each other's characters with full gear and effects, travel together, fight side by side in shared turn-based rounds, and progress the same story. Quests, contracts, loot, chests, dungeons and weather stay in sync for everyone. It's in alpha, so expect bugs, desyncs and unsupported features please report them.

Installation instructions

• []Switch to modbranch on steam.[/]

  []Install ModShardLauncher (MSL). https://github.com/ModShardTeam/ModShardLauncher[/]

  []Put the StoneshardMP mod file in MSL's Mods folder (requires running MSL to generate mod folder).[/]

  []Open MSL, load backed up vanilla.win, enable StoneshardMP and patch the game.[/]

  []Launch the patched game. A Multiplayer button appears under Play on the main menu.[/]

Main features

• []Recommended for  2-4 players (host + 1-3), however can be played with 8, each drawn with their own gear, animations, effects and name tag.[/]

  []Join the host's world. The host keeps everyone's characters, and progress.[/]

  []Out of combat has two movement modes, "on move" which ticks when any player moves and on a fixed tick which ticks constantly.[/]

  []In combat, everyone takes their turn, then the enemies act.[/]

  []Enemies, NPCs, ground loot, doors, chests, digging, dungeons and weather are shared.[/]

  []Shared quests and quest book, contracts, settlement reputation, and dialogue and location progress.[/]

  []Shared NPC Dialog by listening in to a players conversation.[/]

  []Every player needs the same StoneshardMP version, which the mod checks when you connect.[/]

  []The host must be reachable on TCP port 7777 (changeable in the network tab). Forward the port, or use a LAN or virtual LAN such as Tailscale.[/]
