📋 About This Mod

If you like to play tall with a smaller Empire size then this mod's for you.  Living Space Reborn lets you colonize all  the planetary bodies in a system except stars and blackholes.  Like the original Living Space mod, you can colonize Barren, Molten, Toxic, Frozen, and Gas Giant worlds.  Further you can set up a colony on any one of the games three asteroids.  Now small and tiny empires can utilize the entirety of their systems resources and stand a chance against the Bully on the Block.

The Original Living Space (2. 6)

Living Space Reborn for Stellaris v4. 4. 6

This mod is still in a Beta testing phase.   Please report bugs.

This mod has been rebuilt almost from the ground up to work with the new mechanics of Stellaris 4. 4. 6.  While this has been a pretty substantial rebuild, gebnar still deserves his due credit as this mod wouldn't exist without his original mod.  I re used the ideas in his mod and much of the concepts are his.  The planetary blockers while updated to work with the new systems came directly from his mod.

The Player is free to build and create Hostile Habitats on the typical and various planets and asteroids and gas giants in their various systems, though AI Empires had to get limitations to stop them from simply spamming new unused colonies en-mass.

AI Empires are restricted to having only  3 uncolonized Hostile Habitat Planets at any given time  In order to build more they have to colonize at least one so they don't simply spam build.  Further, In order to preserve the late game play and prevent lag, they've been restricted by Empire size on how many they can build at all.  Tiny 1 to 3 system empires can build up to 8 stpg Habitats so they can have some relevance.  Mid sized empires, 4 to 25 systems, can have 5 stpg habitats, and Large Empires can only have 3.   This mod will not stop the AI Empires from spamming the vanilla habitats, nor will it ensure that those habitats are colonized.   Since the colonization fix doesn't apply to this mod, I borrowed from the work of OldEnt, and his Habitat AI colonization fix, this mod will ensure that AI Empires colonize the Living Space they build.  Habitat AI colonisation fix  is still required to fix the vanilla habitats, but can co-exist and will play nicely with this mod.

Colonizing the non habitable solar worlds consists of creating a hostile habitat with a construction ship.  Direct the construction ship to the planet or asteroid, (including Barren, Gas Giants, Molten, Toxic and Frozen worlds, along with regular and ice asteroids as well as the rare crystal asteroids), and right click to bring up the build megastructure popup.  You'll get an option to build either a regular vanilla (Habitat Central Complex) habitat, or a Hostile Habitat.  Choose the Hostile habitat and you'll get a temporary habitat icon above the planet and the cost in energy to build it.  Barren and Gas Giant worlds, along with the various asteroids cost 500 energy.  The really hostile worlds, the molten, toxic and frozen worlds, cost 1500 energy to build with 500 energy up front and the balance on colonization.  Once the habitat is built, the icon disappears and is replaced with the habitable world icon.   Upon colonization, you'll get the typical planetary menu with some new districts.  They work just like vanilla districts, but are essentially brand new copies that use vanilla style mechanics while maintaining compatibility and shouldn't conflict with anything.

This mod was made with compatibility in mind.  All the vanilla content has been left untouched for maximum compatibility with mods and mod lists.  All the new content was created by cloning the vanilla content into a completely separate environment, so any mods modding the vanilla content will work as intended.  The only overlaps are in the expected "on_game_start_country" and the "on_bi_yearly_pulse_country" hooks.  Everything else should be completely clean and compatible.

Living Space Reborn has integrated adapted buildings from the Extra Buildings - All in One mod so it's compatible if you use that mod, though it isn't required.  Because this mod uses a new cloned vanilla environment for its habitats and districts, it was necessary to integrate the buildings as Extra Buildings isn't set up to use Living Space Reborn's environment.  (As of the time of this writing, Extra Buildings - All in One isn't entirely compatible with stellaris 4. 4. 6).

As in the original Living Space mod, barren worlds mimic normal vanilla habitable worlds with the exception that they never naturally yield strategic resources.
