State of Decay 2 fast weapon swap - switching weapon (AHK script - macro)

I just started playing this game, and it's amazing, but I miss too much a way to fast switch from crossbow to a more powered weapon.

So, i decided to create a simple macro that do the job for me, opening the inventory and automatically switching the weapon with the one in the first slot of my backpack, at the fastest speed possible.

I'm currently using Logitech G HUB for the macro, but I've created an AHK script that does the same thing.

1- If some of the keybind that you have to use for the macro is the same as your movement key, you have to stay still (or just don't press that key) for less than half a second while using the script/macro. You can change your inventory keys in the "UI" section in key mappings to avoid this.

2- The weapon that you want to switch must be in the first (upper left) slot of the backpack, but you can even edit the script to select every one of the slots in the backpack by adding more keystrokes to select the slot that you want (using keys that you have in the "UI" section in key mappings).

3- If you use AutoHotKey, you need to run the script as ADMIN, or (for me) the game doesn't recognize the macro (windows 10).

4- You can download AutoHotKey HERE. A list of the keys to use in the AHK script is HERE.

5- If the script does not work for you, try increasing all pauses to 10 milliseconds, instead of 5ms (or even more if your pc can't handle it). Sometimes, the macro seems not doing the job when starting up the game (you see the inventory opening and closing without a weapon change), but after few seconds the script start working as intended so, before increasing milliseconds, just wait a little when starting up the game to see if it works.

6- You can create a new AutoHotKey script just by right clicking on desktop and selecting "new file" -> "AutoHotKey Script", or just download my example in the FILE section.

7- You can even create multiple scripts for different slots in your backpack, so you can choose from multiple weapons.

To do this, keep in mind that the basic script shown below does exactly this:

-> opens inventory (=Send key1)

-> go down (=Send key2)

-> go down (=Send key2)

-> go down (=Send key2)

-> go down (=Send key2)

-> equip (=Send key3)

-> closes inventory (=Send key1)
