📋 About This Mod
Update: Version 1. 1 includes updates that should resolve the lighting issues. If you have a non-HDR display or are making screen captures or recordings that don't work properly with HDR content, use the v1. 1 mod files labeled as Non-HDR - also, be sure to turn HDR to "Off" rather than "Auto" in the game's video settings menu This only affects the base mod ("Day Lighting") and "Dusk Lighting" mods - the "Night" and "Dawn" lighting mods should be fine in version 1. 0. When setup properly, your lighting should look as it does in the screen captures.
Update: It looks like there's an issue with the lighting when HDR isn't active, which is going to be a problem for anyone not using HDR as well as for recordings. I'll post an update when it's fixed.
This is intended for use as a "Blast" mode map with the Instant Action Overhaul mod. (It modifies the Bespin "Arcade" mode map, but unless used in IAO Blast, the A. I. won't move.)
Meter your expectations - the pathing on Bespin isn't great for map mods and I didn't realize it until I'd already sunk alot of time into this. The A. I. behaves as if they're on a combination of death sticks and meth. For best results, keep the bot count below 20 or fewer.
The included supplemental lighting variation mods for this map (dawn, night and dusk) should be placed underneath this base mod in your load order. Only enable one lighting variation mod at a time.
This also includes a standalone mod that changes infantry skins to match Bespin maps in Battlefront 1 (2015).
Known Issues:
- A. I. Pathing (A. I. frequently jumps repeatedly when not engaged in combat.)
- A. I. randomly spawn from high above the map.
- Currently requires HDR
This mod reworks the Bespin map in Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) to relocate combat outdoors and to ground level, addressing lighting issues in its V1.1 update. It requires placement below IAO in the load order. With 157 endorsements and over 51,000 downloads, it's a niche but popular map modification.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid download count (51,955) shows real interest in this map tweak
- 157 endorsements from players who actually tried it
- V1.1 update fixed lighting problems, so it's been maintained
⚠️ Cons
- Only works if you have IAO installed and load it correctly – extra setup hassle
- Niche change: if you liked the original indoor Bespin layout, this isn't for you
- No recent updates since January 2023, so might be outdated with newer game patches
For Battlefront II players who want a fresh take on Bespin, especially those who prefer open ground combat over tight indoor corridors. If you're tired of the same old map flow and want a change of pace, this is worth trying. Skip if you're happy with the vanilla Bespin or don't want to mess with load orders.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to place this mod below IAO in your mod manager's load order, or the changes won't apply correctly.
- If you're using Frosty Mod Manager, double-check that both mods are enabled and the order is right before launching the game.
- After updating to V1.1, clear your shader cache to avoid any leftover lighting glitches.
