STO FSB Object Replacement and General Editor (FORGE)

DSSI cannot handle newer FSB5 files, so the need for a new tool was required: This is that tool.

STO FORGE is an all-in-one desktop tool for opening, previewing, and replacing audio inside STO's .fsb sound bank files — no command-line tools required.

What it does

-Open FSB4 and FSB5 audio banks from STO's game files

-Preview any sample directly in the app with a single click or double-click

-Extract samples as WAV or MP3

-Replace samples with your own audio, then save the modified bank back to disk

-Replaced samples are highlighted in the list so you always know what's been swapped

Known format support

FSB5 — PCM (all rates including non-standard), MP3

Other codecs (CELT, AT9, Vorbis, XMA) — listed but not extractable

Replacement rules

MP3 banks take MP3 replacements. PCM banks take WAV replacements. The app will tell you if there's a mismatch and what format to export from Audacity.

Silencer Tab

A batch silencing tool has been added as a new tab alongside the existing Editor. Designed for quickly muting specific audio samples inside an FSB bank without needing to prepare individual replacement files.

How it works:

Open any FSB file in the Silencer tab, select the samples you want to mute (Ctrl+click, Shift+click, or Select All), and hit Silence Selected. The app automatically detects whether each sample uses MP3 or PCM encoding and applies the matching silence file. When you save, the original FSB is backed up with an " - ORIGINAL" suffix before overwriting.

Details:

-Multi-select tree view for choosing one, several, or all samples at once

-Automatic codec detection per sample, no manual WAV/MP3 selection needed

-Pre-flight validation checks that the required silence files (silence.wav, silence.mp3) exist before processing

-Save FSB auto-creates a backup of the original file on first save, then writes the silenced version to the original path

-Select All / Deselect All buttons for fast batch operations

-Clear button to reset the tab and unload the current file

-Independent of the Editor tab, each tab maintains its own FSB bank

-Silenced samples highlighted in the list with a muted status indicator

-Dedicated log panel for tracking per-sample results and errors
