📋 About This Mod

Certain vanilla weapons in the game have missing or extra keywords that cause skills to not work correctly with them.  This mod corrects those keyword entries so these weapons gain the correct benefits from the appropriate skills.

These fixes were included in the Starfield Community Patch (SFCP). However, because the fixes were applied before the Free Lanes update the weapons would not work with Free Lanes updates like X-Tech.

This is a standalone mod that does not require the SFCP.  It can be used on its own to fix the weapon issues listed further below.  However, if you want to use the SFCP you can also use this mod after it in the load order and it will override the outdated fixes in the SFCP giving you full functionality.

Credit: I did not discover these issues. I only discovered the conflict with Free Lanes and recreated the fixes using the SFCP changelog.  Full credit goes to the original fix contributors.

  • []The Ripshank, Osmium Dagger, and Barrow Knife now correctly have the ObjectTypeWeapon keyword. The Ripshank is also now included in WeaponsMeleeList. These weapons should now be handled correctly by various perks, dialogue lines, and other such things. , , , - #1045 - Fix contributed by tdanese[/]

[]The Pacifier shotgun now includes the WeaponTypeRanged keyword. This allows it to benefit from perks correctly, as other shotguns do. - #761[/]

[]Removed redundant WeaponTypeAutomatic keyword from the Kodama, Grendel, Maelstrom, and Shotty. This keyword is provided by receiver modifications. Its presence was causing these weapons to not benefit correctly from perks when they were set up as semi-auto weapons. , , , - #662[/]

[]The Bridger and Negotiator now have the WeaponTypeHeavyGun and WeaponTypeBallistic keywords, allowing them to benefit correctly from Heavy Weapons Certification, Ballistics, Rapid Reload, and a number of other buffs. , - #951[/]

  • []Removed erroneous Carriage Return and Line Feed characters from the name of the Va'ruun Inflictor. This was leading to UI display issues in some cases. - #486[/]

I did not include the WeaponTypeBallistic keyword on the launchers as the new launcher, Breechblock, only includes WeaponTypeHeavyGun.  This seems to be the intended setup.

*Most or all of these fixes are included in the Unofficial Starfield Patch which has already been updated for Free Lanes so this mod is not necessary if you are using the Unofficial Starfield Patch

  • Recently updated (April 2026), so it's likely maintained

⚠️ Cons

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and enable—load order usually doesn't matter for keyword fixes.
  • Check the mod's forum posts or comments to see which specific weapons are fixed, so you know if it covers your problem.
  • Since it's a plugin, make sure it's active in your load order; if you have other weapon mods, test in-game to ensure no conflicts.
