Description

VLADIMIR The Watcher is a visual replacer for Vladimir Sall, created to better reflect the role, history, and atmosphere that his character is meant to carry.

In the base game, Vladimir’s appearance does not fully communicate who he is. He often looks more like a laborer or hired muscle than a seasoned observer — someone whose life is now defined by star charts, long solitude, and quiet guidance. At the same time, the original version also feels a little too young. In dialogue, Vladimir repeatedly refers to himself as an old man, but his default appearance often reads more like someone in his forties or fifties.

This replacer aims to correct that impression.

The goal was to strengthen his sense of age, wisdom, and experience, while also preserving the wear of his former life. Vladimir is not just a man on a space station — he is a former pirate, a solitary observer, a cartographer, and a quiet watcher of the stars. He should look like someone who has spent decades living through danger, crossing the void, and eventually settling into a life of contemplation.

To reflect that, this version gives him a much older and more seasoned appearance. White hair and a full white beard help communicate his age more clearly and fit his dialogue better. The beard also feels natural for someone with his background: a former pirate now living in relative isolation aboard a station, with little reason to care too much about maintaining a polished appearance. His face has been adjusted to give him more of the feeling of a spacefaring old sailor — a wise elder, a weathered man, and someone who watches more than he speaks.

I also chose not to make any changes to his race. His appearance and his seemingly mismatched name are, in my view, part of what makes him memorable. That contrast gives him a more mysterious past and adds extra texture to his character, rather than taking anything away from it.
