📋 About This Mod
This is an Edit Script for SF1Edit which will update some bone modifier "jiggle parameters".
Description
(NOTE: See the sticky post in the Posts section for "howto" oriented documentation. This here is orientation and background information so you can understand this script and what the numbers mean.)
This is a pascal "Edit Script" for use in SF1Edit. The specific parameter values being set are down at the very bottom of the script, should you wish to change them. You can also update these parameters manually, but using a script like this is slightly less tedious.
To use, you need to select the records you wish to change, and use Apply Script... to run the script. You can use SF1Edit's fast start for this (hold shift when hitting OK after selecting the jiggle physics modules you want to load).
Parameter Descriptions
The Starfield "Bone Modifier" parameters are used to represent an ideal spring. The parameters dealt with here are:
Strength - this represents the initial force returning the "spring bone" to its center position. Since it's acting like a spring the effective force also depends on how far the "bone" has stretched from its original position. Low values will return slowly and give a softer jiggle effect while high values will quickly return quickly. Zero strength on a bone will basically never return to its original position. (Note: "bone" here refers to the concept of positioning a "joint" in "skeletal animation" rather than some representation of an actual physical bone.)
Damp - This represents how fast the spring's energy gets dissipated. A damping factor of 1 gives you the fastest "return to rest at the center position" possible for a given strength. Smaller than 1 "jiggles" (going past the center position), greater than one does not jiggle, and instead returns slowly to the center position.
Max Dist - this is a limit on how far the spring will stretch. Crudely speaking, this limits "floppiness" far beyond the limitations imposed by Strength
Also, each of these starfield database records has three numbers, for the x, y and z direction.
The x axis in starfield, on a character model, runs left and right through the character. Rotation around this axis would have the character leaning forwards or backwards (which is called "pitch" when talking about rotations). But the spring model is not a rotational model so x here represents springiness in the left and right direction.
The y axis in starfield, on a character model, runs along the character's facing direction. (Rotation on this axis would have the character leaning left or right which is also called "roll"). Max Dist should probably be zero on the y axis, for realistic looking jiggle.
The z axis in starfield is vertical. (Rotation on this axis would turn left and righ
