📋 About This Mod
About this mod:
Automatically unequips the spacesuit when the player is either in a spaceship or on an inhabitable planet (atmosphere: oxigen + mild or warm temperature) and equips it only on the uninhabitable ones.
Remember Last Equipped Spacesuit feature:
Added in v2. 0. The mod will remember what kind of spacesuit was recently unequipped and it will auto-equip that one. It only remembers the type, e.g., Bounty Hunter Spacesuit. If you have more than one Bounty Hunter Spacesuits in your inventory, the mod will choose one from them.
The data records the .esm contains are base forms existing in the Creation Engine way before Starfield; I haven't encountered any issues with the .esm while testing. Still, the game (itself, not just .esm or .esp files) doesn't have "official" mod support. The mod initializes itself upon arriving at New Atlantis the first time (Stage 1310 of quest with ID '3448' by the way) to avoid interfering with the first main story quest.
(CGF "AutoEquipUnequipSpacesuitScript. TurnOffStartupDelay" ==> turns off this "startup delay", if needed for some reason).
Custom Console Commands:
You can activate or deactivate the mod ingame and toggle the "RememberLastEquippedSpacesuit" feature with these commands:
CGF "AutoEquipUnequipSpacesuitScript. DisableMod"
CGF "AutoEquipUnequipSpacesuitScript. EnableMod"
CGF "AutoEquipUnequipSpacesuitScript. RememberLastEquippedSpacesuit" True ==> Replace True with False to turn off
Install/Uninstall:
Just like any .esm/.esp/.esl mods (here's a simple guide).
Auto Equip Unequip Spacesuit is a gameplay mod for Starfield that automatically equips your spacesuit only when needed, such as when in space or on hostile planets, and unequips it when safe, like inside spaceships. With 204 endorsements and 5,652 downloads, it's a niche quality-of-life improvement for players tired of manually toggling suits.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 204 endorsements and over 5,600 downloads.
- Solves a real annoyance—no more forgetting to suit up before stepping out.
- Lightweight and focused, does exactly what it says without bloat.
⚠️ Cons
- May conflict with other inventory or equipment mods that alter spacesuit behavior.
- Limited to spacesuit auto-equip; doesn't handle helmets or other gear.
- Potential for unexpected behavior in modded environments with custom planets or hazards.
For Starfield players who hate manually managing spacesuits and want a hands-off approach to survival gear. Perfect for explorers who frequently jump between ships and planets. Skip if you prefer full manual control or use complex inventory overhaul mods.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Test the mod in a safe area like New Atlantis to see how it reacts to different environments.
- If you use other equipment mods, load this one after them to ensure compatibility.
- Check your spacesuit's stats—this mod only toggles the suit, not your helmet or boostpack.
