Sign Lock

Image signs can be critical reminders, labels, or even sources of quick communication in multiplayer, but it can be easy to accidentally replace the image they show with an accidental click. This mod will let you keep the images on them locked until you actually intend to swap them.

  []Hold the bypass key (Left Ctrl by default) to update signs anytime.[/]

  []Picking up a sign will also reset it (a great option for controllers)[/]

  []Freshly placed signs are not locked, you can update them with like normal.[/]

  []Works on all signs using the sign_item context tag (including Wood Sign, Stone Sign, and Dark Sign).[/]

  []Does not affect Text Signs in any way.[/]

  []Designed to work with both controller and mouse/keyboard![/]

  []Tested with Profiler: loaded in under 10 ms with no slow-handler or BigLoop hits.[/]

  []Uses SMAPI input suppression, no Harmony.[/]

  • []"BypassKey:" Choose a key to hold to allow sign updates without resetting the sign. (Default: "LeftCtrl")[/]

    Note about configuration for controllers: I could not find a "good" button to use as a bypass when testing on an Xbox controller. LStick was the best option I tried, but it allows changes whenever the player is moving if they use the stick instead of the D-Pad for movement. Bumpers and triggers are already occupied. So while there is no default controller button assigned, if your controller has a button you think would work well, you can absolutely assign it in GMCM.
