Cats are territorial little gremlins, and now the ones in Stardew Valley are too.

Standoffs

When two cats wander within 5 tiles of each other, there's a 25% chance one of them takes it personally. They stalk in close, arch their backs, puff up like bottle brushes and hiss it out. A spat lasts about a minute and a half.

Catfights

About half of all standoffs boil over into a full-on scrap: a tumbling cloud of dust, paws swiping out of it, scratch marks and little stars - about 20 seconds of chaos. Wander into the middle and you'll catch a stray swipe (it never takes you below 1 HP). Afterwards the two break apart and lick their wounds.

Stray cats

Out in the valley (not on your farm), strays sometimes turn up and wander around - at most 3 per map, and they're gone by the end of the day. If there's water nearby they'll often crouch on the bank, bat at the surface a few times, and every so often scoop out a fish that flops around on the ground. Cheap fish are easy; the pricey ones rarely get caught.

Tractor Mod (optional)

If you have Tractor Mod, driving past a cat gives it a chance to charge the wheels and get squished into a cat pancake. A few seconds later it pops back into shape and stalks off, deeply offended. Cartoon physics - no cats were harmed.

Sounds

Comes with a real recording of cats squabbling that loops for the whole quarrel. The closer you are, the louder it gets.

Want to swap it out, or add sounds for the strays and the tractor? Drop .wav or .ogg files into the folders under Mods/CatQuarrel/声音/ (folder names are in Chinese - see README.txt for what each one is). Empty folders fall back to vanilla sounds.

Install

Unzip into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder and launch through SMAPI.
