Dynamic Winter Cycle (For Winter's Tale Mod)

I’m extremely new to the modding world, and I was trying to figure out a simple way to make the snow from the Winter’s Tale mod appear dynamically without spending too much time on complex setups. Eventually, I came up with a very straightforward idea.

Description

When you run the script, it performs a random check with a 20% chance to enable snow and an 80% chance to keep normal weather. The script works by moving the Winter’s Tale mod files into the main S. T. A. L. K. E. R. 2 directory when snow is not selected, and after you close the game, it automatically moves those files back to the mods folder. If the random roll selects snow, nothing will be moved.

This was the fastest and simplest way I found to make Winter’s Tale work as a dynamic weather option.

You need to have the Winter's Tale mod in your mods folder:

1 - The only modification you need to apply in the file is to update the GAME_FOLDER with your own Stalker 2 path.

For example, mine looks like this when using Steam:

GAME_FOLDER=F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\S. T. A. L. K. E. R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl\Stalker2

2 - It’s also important that you update the parameter MODS_FOLDER to your own mods directory.

Mine ended up as:

MODS_FOLDER=%GAME_FOLDER%\Content\Paks\_mods

And it’s also possible to change the chance of snow to any percentage by modifying these parameters:

echo ❄️ SNOW ENABLED (20%% chance)

set "TARGET=%MODS_FOLDER%"

echo 🌤️ NO SNOW (80%% chance)

set "TARGET=%GAME_FOLDER%"
