📋 About This Mod
An early access, total overhaul mod for Heart of Chornobyl built using the same foundation perfected in Better Ballistics Core. Prepare for a hardcore Zone experience - featuring reimagined gunplay, progression, economy, and more to come!
Regarding the latest update for STALKER 2
Initially, the goal for Better Ballistics was to rework the weapon system, alongside related aspects to deliver a more hardcore gunplay experience to STALKER 2. But eventually, it became clear that the base game itself needs a complete overhaul to truly realize this mod’s vision.
Hence, the new Redux version – it expands on most aspects of STALKER 2 to deliver a polished experience, while keeping gunplay as its central core. The result is a new experience that’s vastly different from what vanilla gameplay provides, and closer to that of classic tactical shooters – think Insurgency or SWAT 4, maintaining a punishing difficulty and requiring players to use the right tools for each situation.
This mod represents 11 months of development, based on various improvements from developing previous mods prior to STALKER 2’s release. If you're looking for a hardcore and tactical Zone experience, this is it.

Weapon system
- Ammunition stats now dictate realistic weapon damage and penetration, instead of being based on an arbitrary weapon tier-list. Choosing the right ammo can mark the difference between a kill and a corpse run.
- Complete weapon system overhaul, covering all aspects like weapon handling, accuracy, fire modes, magazine capacity, and more ensuring that every weapon in the game performs just like its real-life counterparts, while still maintaining proper progression and gameplay balance.
