Crew Chatter

Your crew now speaks. Not just flavour text — they react to what's actually happening on your ship. A fire breaks out and someone calls it. A crew member dies and their colleagues grieve in character. You survive a boarding and the hardened ones sound different from the first-timers. The ship goes quiet in hyperspace and someone says something into the dark. Every line floats above the speaker's head and appears in the ship log, visible at any game speed. Lines are profession-aware, faction-aware, and mood-aware — an engineer sounds like an engineer, a medic sounds like a medic, and nobody says anything they shouldn't after a loss. Each crew member has their own cooldown so nobody dominates. High-priority events — deaths, breaches, combat — always fire immediately. Everything else breathes. ───────────────────────────────────── WHAT REACTS Fires and hull breaches Combat start and boarding Crew deaths — colleagues respond by name, in character, with real grief Low O2 and power critical Morale drops and morale highs Skill level-ups, trades, new arrivals Hyperspace and deep-space ambience All-systems-green moments Peer observations, relationship milestones, dreams ───────────────────────────────────── THE SHIP REMEMBERS Your crew's history is saved between sessions. First combat, first breach, deaths witnessed, bonds formed. Return to your ship and the lines have context your crew has actually earned. ───────────────────────────────────── Naturalistic, dry, occasionally darkly funny. Always grounded in the void.
