📋 About This Mod
This is a port of the Skyrim mod "Where in Oblivion am I". It's not that difficult, especially for the people this is meant for, but I figured since I'd done it already for personal use, I might as well post it here. - Candoran2
Original Description:
"Have you ever walked around Skyrim, found the perfect location for your next home/dungeon/whatever, then spent ages trying to find that location in the CK? Yeah, me too.
So what you do is you load this mod. Open the console. Type "help modder". This will show a book called "A modder's proposal". Add this book to your inventory. Now every time you read this book you will get a messagebox telling you what cell you're in. Just the numbers, you should now be able to find it quickly in the CK if you sort the cell view window by coords. Ridiculously simple, and possibly only useful for simpletons like me who don't like scrolling endlessly around in the render window trying to find that spot.
Probably will give nonsense results when read inside, it's for external cells. Will work for any external worldspace (Tamriel, Blackreach, Whiterunworld, your custom worldspace)"
This is a port of the Skyrim mod 'Where in Oblivion am I' for Skyrim Special Edition. It adds a book that, when read, displays the coordinates of your current external cell in a messagebox, helping modders locate specific areas in the Creation Kit. With 206 endorsements and 7,621 downloads, it's a niche utility for mod authors.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real pain point for modders—no more endless scrolling in the render window.
- Community-tested with 206 endorsements and over 7,600 downloads.
- Lightweight and simple: just add the book, read it, and get coordinates.
⚠️ Cons
- Only works for external cells—gives nonsense results indoors, so it's not a universal locator.
- Requires manual console commands to add the book, which might be clunky for some users.
- Last updated in 2018, so it may not be compatible with the latest Skyrim SE patches or other mods that alter cell data.
This is for Skyrim SE modders who spend hours in the Creation Kit trying to find that perfect spot for a house or dungeon. If you're a player looking for gameplay changes, this isn't for you—it's a pure utility tool. Skip it if you never touch the CK.
💡 Beginner Tips
- After loading the mod, open the console and type 'help modder' to find the book's ID, then use 'player.additem' to add it to your inventory.
- Read the book only when you're in an exterior cell—indoors will give you nonsense coordinates.
- In the Creation Kit, sort the Cell View window by coordinates to quickly jump to the location the book reports.
