📋 About This Mod
Vivid Weathers SE - Brighter Nights.
♦ Introduction:
This mod make nights of Vivid Weathers SE brighter.
I like Vivid Weathers, but my sight usually tires of it's dark nights, especially during rainy storms.
You may say: "Vivid Weathers already have option to make nights brighter". - Yes it does, but those option makes brighter everything including lights and effects, which makes some lights at night annoyingly bright (like street lights in cities), also it makes some vanilla weather appearing incorrectly (for example, it makes Bloated Man's Grotto look very bright during Hircine's quest). See pictures for details.
♦ Description (what this mod do):
This mod increases value of Vivid Weathers night ambient lighting colors.
Also this mod tweaks some vanilla lights to more desaturated and less yellow tones.
ESL-flagged plugin (doesn't take plugin place).
♦ Requirements:
Vivid Weathers SE, of course.
♦ Installation:
Extract file to your Data folder or use your favorite mod-manager.
♦ Compatibility:
Affects Vivid Weathers and some vanilla weathers (affected by VW).
Also affects street lights, some candle lights and torches.
Put mod before or after other similar mods in load order depending of which options you want in game.
Vivid Weathers SE - Brighter Nights is a small compatibility patch for Vivid Weathers SE that brightens night ambient lighting without affecting lights and effects, and tweaks some vanilla lights to be less yellow. It's ESL-flagged, so it won't take a plugin slot. For players who find Vivid Weathers' nights too dark but want to avoid the side effects of the built-in brightness options.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fixes the overly bright lights and effects that come with Vivid Weathers' built-in brightness options.
- ESL-flagged means it won't eat up your plugin limit, which is nice for load order management.
- Simple install: just extract to Data or use your mod manager, no patches needed.
⚠️ Cons
- Only works with Vivid Weathers SE, so if you're not using that weather mod, this is useless.
- Last updated in 2020, so it might be outdated for newer versions of Vivid Weathers or Skyrim SE.
- Affects some vanilla lights and weathers, so you might see conflicts with other lighting mods if you're not careful with load order.
For Skyrim SE players who love Vivid Weathers but find its nights too dark, especially during storms, and want a targeted fix without the side effects of the built-in brightness options. Skip if you don't use Vivid Weathers or if you prefer the dark nights as they are.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place this mod after Vivid Weathers in your load order to ensure it overrides the night settings properly.
- If you use other lighting mods like ELFX, test the load order to see which effects you prefer, as this mod affects some vanilla lights.
- Since it's ESL-flagged, you can safely add it to your load order without worrying about the 255 plugin limit.
