📋 About This Mod

AI Upscaled textures for all of Skyrim's vanilla creatures, using Chainner with the Skyrim Misc. model by Deorder. Includes upscales of 2 to 4 times the original texture sizes.

The trained model is based on ESRGAN and utilizes the CC0 Creative Commons license.

There are 2 versions: one that's upscaled to 2 times the original resolution and one that's 4 times.

The 2x version is very close in detail to the 4x version, and you'll most likely only notice a difference in smaller creatures like chickens. The 2x version is also 80% smaller in size than the 4x version.

This mod will most certainly have a big performance impact, therefore a graphics card with 8gb - 12gb of VRAM is recommended. Testing it with only 4gb of VRAM gave me results of 40-55 fps.

Installation

Use your favorite mod manager or just drag and drop the extracted textures folder into your Skyrim's Data folder.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community pick with 186 endorsements and over 61k downloads
  • Gives creatures a crisp visual boost without touching gameplay
  • No ESP means it's lightweight and won't clutter your load order

⚠️ Cons

  • Only covers creatures, so you'll need other mods for the rest of the game
  • AI upscaling can sometimes introduce artifacts on certain textures
  • Compatibility risk with other creature texture overhauls that modify the same files
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want a quick, low-risk visual upgrade for creatures without messing with gameplay. If you're already using a comprehensive texture overhaul, you might skip this to avoid conflicts.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager—no plugin needed.
  • If you use other creature texture mods, install this one last so it overwrites them, or check for conflicts.
  • For best results, pair with an ENB or other lighting mods to see the texture detail pop.
