📋 About This Mod
Unique Gildergreen - A tree replacer
The Gildergreen is a central landmark in Skyrim's most important city, Whiterun. The vanilla tree, however, is somewhat lacklustre. This mod gives the Gildergreen and related trees new models.
Specifically, it replaces:
-
[]The dead Gildergreen tree
[
]the Eldergleam tree[]the rejuvenated Gildergreen tree
[]the planted Eldergleam sapling
[]the regrown Gildergreen (if using a mod that regrows the tree).
What does this mod do?
The mod comes with tree models from Alaxouche's G. I. R. T. H - Gildergreen Is Really Thicc and fxxkthisworld's Nature of the Wild Lands. These are incredible models, which the authors very generously permitted me to include.
The mod uses an ESPFE to define new tree records. It uses a Base Object Swapper ini to swap specific trees without affecting the vanilla mesh and textures. This means that other mods can continue to rely on the vanilla mesh and textures (or your preferred mesh and texture replacers).
The mod also comes with a tiny script, which allows it to use different models for the rejuvenated tree and a regrown Gildergreen, if you have a mod that lets the sapling mature and grow.
All tree models come with seasonal variants for Seasons of Skyrim.
Requirements
The mod requires Base Object Swapper.
Compatibility
The mod should be compatible with most things, but it will need patches for anything that drastically changes the Whiterun worldspace, specifically the location of the Gildergreen.
Because the mod only replaces the Gildergreen in Whiterun (and the Eldergleam in the sanctuary), it is also compatible with any mods using the vanilla tree model, such as Cities of the North - Falkreath.
It comes with built-in compatibility for
-
[]Seasons of Skyrim
[]Gildergreen Regrown
[]The Gildergreen Grows
A: Yes. Obviously.
Q: Aren't there already mods that do this..?
A: Yes! Some very good ones too. If you use The Gildergreen Grows, you may like ItzIvy's The Gildergreen Grows - Nature of the Wild Lands - Standalone Patch, which does some of the same things with a slightly different approach. And of course, you could also just use a standard mesh and texture replacer, such as G. I. R. T. H or Nature of the Wild Lands, from which I borrowed the models, or Subdivide and Smoothe - Unique Trees, or Sacred Trees, or.

[]Seasons of Skyrim
Unique Gildergreen replaces the Gildergreen and Eldergleam trees in Skyrim with new models from Alaxouche's G.I.R.T.H and fxxkthisworld's Nature of the Wild Lands. It uses Base Object Swapper and an ESPFE to avoid conflicts, includes seasonal variants for Seasons of Skyrim, and supports Gildergreen Regrown. A small script enables different models for the rejuvenated and regrown trees.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 103 endorsements and nearly 9k downloads.
- Smart use of Base Object Swapper means no mesh conflicts with other tree mods.
- Includes high-quality models from popular mods like G.I.R.T.H and Nature of the Wild Lands.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Base Object Swapper, so you need to grab that dependency first.
- Needs patches for mods that drastically change Whiterun's worldspace, like city overhauls.
- Last updated in May 2025, so it might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or other mods.
For Skyrim players who want the Gildergreen to look more impressive without overhauling all trees. If you use Seasons of Skyrim or Gildergreen Regrown, this mod integrates seamlessly. Skip if you're fine with vanilla trees or don't want to add another dependency.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Base Object Swapper installed and load this mod after it in your mod manager.
- If you use Seasons of Skyrim, enable the seasonal patch or ensure the mod's files are active.
- For Gildergreen Regrown, install that mod first, then this one, to get the script working properly.
