📋 About This Mod

Description

This mod allows you to use a pickaxe on trap rocks to get quarried stone.

If you swing a pickaxe on a trap rock, the following will happen:

  • [] At 3 and 6 hits you get 1 quarried stone each. (and a 5% chance to get a gem)

[] At 9 hits, you'll get one last quarried stone (and a 5% chance to get a gem), but the stone will be "depleted" and disappear. They will respawn after the cell resets.

    Compatibility

This mod will be incompatible with mods that also edit the trap rocks.

These mods are compatible without the need of any patches:

    • []Rock Traps Trigger Fixes

      []Motionless Rocks Killing People Fix

There are patches available for these mods:

      • Improved Traps (Dangerous and Slightly Dangerous Edition. The "Plain" edition does not need a patch.)

        Known Issues

While testing, I once had a crash when swinging a pickaxe on a rock. I'm not sure if this was related. It wasn't a repeatable crash, so I don't know why or how it happened.

This was the crash log. I couldn't make sense of it, unfortunately. But I'm putting it here for reference's sake.

Q: Does installing/updating/uninstalling on an existing save work?

A: As far as I know, it should. However, it's good practice to keep a backup save prior to doing this, just in case.

        Q: Is this compatible with <insert mod>?

A: I don't know by heart. You might need to check yourself.

        Q: Will you make a patch for <insert mod>?

A: Only if it's a mod I use myself or plan on using it, I have enough time and I actually like the idea. Otherwise, feel free to do it yourself. (see permissions)

Q: I have a suggestion to improve the mod. Can you do it?

A: Maybe, if I have time and I like the idea, I'll consider it.

Q: Will you port this to <insert platform>?

A: No, I myself only support the Steam and GOG English SE and AE versions of Skyrim. If someone else wants to port it, feel free. (see permission) If you decide to port it, you yourself take full responsibility to offer support to said port. I will not provide no support for any ports by third parties.

Q: I use a ported version of this mod on <insert platform> and I have a problem. Can you help?

A: I don't provide any support for third party ports on other platforms than the Steam and GOG English SE and AE versions of Skyrim. If you have issues, you should adress the person that ported it.

Q: Does this work on Skyrim 1. 6+, aka "Anniversary Edition"?

        A: Yes, it sh

Trap Rocks Give Quarried Stone lets you mine trap rocks with a pickaxe to get quarried stone, with a chance for gems. It's a small immersion mod with 91 endorsements, last updated in January 2024, and includes compatibility patches for some popular trap mods.

✨ Key Features

Swing a pickaxe on trap rocks to get quarried stone at 3, 6, and 9 hits.
Each successful hit has a 5% chance to also yield a gem.
After 9 hits, the trap rock is depleted and disappears, respawning on cell reset.
ESPFE (ESL-flagged) plugin, so it won't count toward your mod limit.
Compatible with Rock Traps Trigger Fixes and Motionless Rocks Killing People Fix without patches.
Patches available for Improved Traps (Dangerous and Slightly Dangerous editions).

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Turns useless trap rocks into a handy source of quarried stone and occasional gems (91 endorsements).
  • ESPFE plugin means it won't eat your mod slots.
  • Author provides patches for popular trap mods, showing care for compatibility.

⚠️ Cons

  • Incompatible with any mod that edits trap rocks unless a patch exists.
  • Author notes a possible crash when mining, though it wasn't repeatable.
  • Small mod with limited scope—if you don't need quarried stone from traps, this won't change much.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want a bit more utility from environmental objects, especially those who enjoy immersion-friendly tweaks. If you're a builder or crafter always short on quarried stone, this is a neat addition. Skip if you're looking for major gameplay overhauls—this is a tiny quality-of-life tweak.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you use Improved Traps, grab the appropriate patch for your edition (Dangerous or Slightly Dangerous) to avoid conflicts.
  • Since it's ESPFE, you can install it mid-playthrough, but keep a backup save just in case.
  • Trap rocks respawn after cell reset, so you can revisit areas later for more stone.
