📋 About This Mod
Pass time by training in your chosen skills. Configurable via MCM. ESL flagged plugin.
DESCRIPTION
Do you ever get tired of having to grind out that last bit of experience you need to reach a new skill-level? Do you find yourself occasionally using the wait function to pass time and wishing it did something useful? Are you on your umpteenth playthrough and looking for an immersive way to advance your skills that doesn't feel like cheating?
If the answer is yes, then it's Time to Train.
HOW IT WORKS
You will be given a lesser power that allows you to train for between 1-8 hours provided that you use it while not in combat. Which skills can be trained depends on both the settings you choose in the MCM and whether the conditions for it are met. Additionally, you must not have reached the daily training limit for that skill, though this restriction can be toggled off in the MCM.
The default settings are designed to be fair and balanced and to simulate how learning a skill actually works. This means low-level skills will improve easily, requiring less time invested to make meaningful gains. As a skill's level increases, the chance of gaining new understanding decreases, but the reward is greater if you are successful. As a begginer, you are likely to benefit from short sessions of 1-3 hours. With more experience, the odds of failing to learn something on an hourly basis increase, which means longer training sessions if you want a good chance of improving. At the highest skill levels (75+), even an 8 hour session doesn't guarantee success, though you're likely to benefit nicely when things go right.
The amount of experience gained is somewhat random, which means you'll sometimes feel like you learned a lot, while other times the XP bar will only move a little. Randomness increases as the amount of xp you can get goes up.
In the MCM, choose which skill(s) you want to train. Any skill that is toggled on can potentially be chosen during that session if its conditions are met. For more on conditions including an example, see below.
SKILL CONDITIONS
Each skill has conditions that must be met to be able to train it. If you choose to train, and the conditions are met for multiple skills, you can select the skill you want to train from the list that pops up. Remove a condition, and that skill becomes ineligible. Take note that if a crafting station that's toggled on is in your crosshair, and you haven't reached your limit for that skill for the day, you will always train in the skill associated with that station.
Example: It's the start of the day, and you haven't trained anything yet. Smithing, speech, pickpocket, block, and one-handed are toggled on. You are in a civilized area with one or more followers nearby, a grindstone is in your crosshair, you have a one-handed weapon equipped, and you're close to a training dummy.
Because smithing is toggled on, and there's a grindstone in your crosshair, you will train smithing in the above scenario. Move your crosshair off of the grindstone, and any of the remaining skills listed can be selected when you choose to train. But move away from the training dummy, and one-handed is taken out of the equation. Send your follower(s) away, and pickpocket and block are no longer eligible.
The requirements for training each skill are laid out in the MCM tooltips. I've listed the skills with their condtions below for reference:
Skill Condition Descriptions
[]Magic Skills: You must equip a spell from the school that you plan to study in either hand. You do NOT have to have your hands raised and ready to cast. This ensures that you know at least one spell from that school which is what allows you train in it. [/]
[]Crafting Skills: You must target the relevant crafting station with your crosshair. When a crafting station is in the crosshair, it will always be selected if toggled on and you haven't reached the maximum number of daily training sessions for that skill. [/]
[]Melee Weapons: You must equip the relevant weapon and be standing fairly close to a training dummy (not an archery target). [/]
[]Bows: You must have a bow equipped and be in the general vicinity of an archery target (not a training dummy). [/]
[*]Block: You must have a melee weapon or shield equipped and have a
