Installation:
Installing like an ordinary mod will NOT achieve the intended result. Please follow the video above for installation instructions. (There's only a few extra steps)
IMPORTANT: It's not mentioned in the video but after downloading Middle Earth Redone:1. Download its update 1. 0b file as well.
2. Copy the ESM from that update (Not the original as shown in the video) to your data folder.
3. Users of patch 1. 0 will need the scripts folder from update 1. 0b as well. Users of patch 1. 1 can skip this step.

FAQ:
Q: Do you intend to fix bugs within the mod's esp?
A: At the time no. This patch is intended to reduce CTD and conflicts, not address bugs within the esp. However this is subject to change in the future, depending on feedback.
Q: Does this fix every possible CTD with the mod?
A: No, there are still many asset-heavy areas which may cause CTD. But the likelihood has been reduced exponentially.

This patch optimizes Middle Earth Redone for Skyrim SE by converting its ESP to an ESM, fixing FaceGen issues, repairing a deleted Navmesh, and packing loose files into BSAs to reduce CTD and conflicts. It is only needed for versions prior to 2.0, as 2.0 includes these fixes. Installation requires following a video guide.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted with 179 endorsements and over 7,700 downloads.
- Tackles real CTD and conflict sources: ESM conversion, FaceGen, Navmesh, and loose files.
- Saves significant disk space by packing files into BSAs, cutting ~3GB from unpacked size.
⚠️ Cons
- Obsolete for Middle Earth Redone 2.0+ users, so only useful for older versions.
- Installation is more involved than typical mods, requiring a video guide and extra steps.
- Does not address bugs within the mod's ESP, only CTD and conflicts, so bug fixes are out of scope.
For Skyrim SE players running Middle Earth Redone versions prior to 2.0 who experience crashes or mod conflicts. If you're on 2.0 or later, you don't need this patch. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes—this is purely a stability and performance patch.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Follow the linked video installation guide exactly—standard mod manager install won't work.
- Download the update 1.0b file and copy the ESM from that update, not the original.
- If you're on patch 1.0, grab the scripts folder from update 1.0b; patch 1.1 users can skip that step.
