📋 About This Mod

Tears of Kyne

Tears of Kyne is a lightweight SKSE-based water need survival mod, focused on simple, immersive water management meant to be used together with Vanilla Survival mode and Survival Mode Improved - SKSE. Four difficulty presets, dynamic hydration stages, and seamless integration into normal gameplay.

Thirst rises over time through five stages, each applying its own buffs or penalties:

  • []Quenched: stamina regen +10%, movement speed +5%[/]

    []Sated: stamina regen +5%[/]

    []Thirsty: stamina regen -5%[/]

[]Parched: stamina regen -10%, magicka regen -5%[/]

[]Dehydrated: stamina regen -10%, magicka regen -5%, movement speed -5%[/]

Filling your waterskin: press the fill key at any river or lake to fill it (with a full animation - weapon sheathed, no combat), then drink from it whenever you're thirsty. Wells, drinking fountains and innkeepers fill your skin and quench you on the spot. Craft extra waterskins at any tanning rack. Prefer casting to keybinds? Enable Fill via Power and fill with a lesser power instead.

Dirty Water (optional)

Turn it on and wild water is no longer safe. Rivers and lakes give Waterskin (Dirty Water) with a low sickness chance; swamps give Waterskin (Foul Water) with a high one. Boil either at any cooking pot to purify it - or risk drinking it raw. Argonians are immune. Both sickness chances are adjustable, and the whole system is off by default.

A clean, color-shifting waterskin widget sits on your HUD and drains from fresh to parched as you grow thirstier. Move it, resize it, hide it, or enable Auto-Hide: it fades in when your thirst changes, lingers for an adjustable few seconds, and fades back out - staying on screen only when you're fully Dehydrated.

Gameplay Options

  • []Survival Mode Sync: automatically follows Vanilla Survival Mode on/off, or run fully independent.[/]

[]Death by Dehydration: optionally die after 5 days without drinking.[/]

[]Pause in Jail: freezes thirst while locked up.[/]

[]No Thirst as Vampire: the undead don't need water; resumes when cured.[/]

[]Perk Gate: tie slower dehydration (15-75%, configurable) to any perk via Plugin.esm|FormID.[/]

    Reusable Bottles

Finished your mead? Keep the bottle. Drinking ale, mead, wine or sujamma returns an empty bottle, and empty bottles can be filled
