📋 About This Mod
DescriptionI like to feel stealthy when playing an illusionist so throwing glowing balls at people I want to gaslight just doesn't feel right to me. That's why I gave the spells in the Calm, Command, Fear, Frenzy, Paralyze and Silence archetypes near-instant travel time (so the projectile is functionally invisible) as well as removing their impact force (so not even the master spells send loose objects flying everywhere).
Optionally, you can make necromancy spells work the same way with Subtler Conjurations.
InstallationInstall as you would any other mod - with a mod manager (recommended) or directly to the data folder. Load after Mysticism. If you use Subtler Conjurations, load after Subtler Illusions.
CompatibilityShould be compatible with anything that doesn't directly edit the affected spells, scrolls, staves or magic effects; before you ask, Sorcerer does not do that.
Known Incompatibilities:
-
[]Immersive Sounds for Mysticism - Patch | Edits the same magic effects that Subtler Illusions does. Loading Subtler Illusions after this removes illusion spells' immersive casting sounds but keeps them subtle; Subtler Illusions doesn't do anything if loaded before this.
Known Issues
- [
- People still glow a bit while under the effects of illusion spells. Unlike the previous issue, this is not a technical limitation - I just prefer it this way.
CreditsThanks to everyone on the Simonrim team for making amazing mods and having very unrestrictive permissions to do things with them. Further thanks to xEdit being a great utility and sparing me the torture of using the Creation Kit.
A compact overhaul for Mysticism that converts certain illusion spells to hitscan and removes collision physics, improving reliability in combat. With 187 endorsements and 410,944 downloads, it's a popular tweak for players seeking more consistent spell behavior.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge download count (410k+) shows it's widely used and trusted
- Simple, focused change that removes a common frustration with projectile spells
- Lightweight mod that doesn't overhaul the whole magic system
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects some illusion spells — not a comprehensive fix
- No documentation on which spells are changed, so you'll have to test in-game
- Last updated in September 2025 — may not be compatible with future game patches
For Skyrim players who use Mysticism and hate when illusion spells miss due to slow projectiles or physics quirks. If you want more reliable crowd control and don't mind a bit of trial-and-error to see which spells are affected, this is for you. Skip if you prefer the original projectile behavior or want a more detailed changelog.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Mysticism installed and load this mod after it in your load order
- Test each illusion spell in a safe area to see which ones are now hitscan
- If you use a mod manager, use the preview feature to see the file structure before installing
