Sturdy Horses (Frost and Shadowmere)

Horses in Skyrim can be pretty awesome. It's nice to get around quickly, especially with Frost and Shadowmere, two of the unique horses. However, they can be killed. And when Frost dies, he's gone. Shadowmere will at least come back, but you need to wait 10 days in game, and that can mess up your questing!

So, to remedy this, I decided to make a quick little patch in the Creation Kit, that makes Frost and Shadowmere essential. Literally just ticked a few boxes. No scripts, no mess, no conflicts.

As to not ruin the first time experience of Skyrim for some, I will not tell you exactly where to find these two horses. Suffice it to say, Frost is part of a side quest acquired in Riften, and Shadowmere may or may not be related to the Dark Brotherhood questline. Aside from that, I think it is best to find these two horses yourself, or at least one of them.

Just install with your favorite mod manager, or extract into \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data. If extracted, make sure to activate the mod inside of Skyrim.

Honestly, there would only be compatibility issues if you install something that also affects Frost and Shadowmere. Even then, this is an extremely basic mod. Very little change to the actual function of the game, aside from making the two horses essential. Should also be compatible with Skyrim VR. Works with Skyrim AE.
