Stop Overencumbered Scavenging

Installation:

• []Install with mod manager of choice

  []Light plugin (ESL), and can be placed anywhere in load-order (no Vanilla records edited, conflict-free)

  How It Works:

  • []Anything looted, mined, harvested, or otherwise acquired whilst over-encumbered will be dropped on the ground nearby, or returned to the container from whence it came

    []You can still become over-encumbered when looting a single item heavy enough to make you so, or if your maximum carry weight happens to change (the latter won't cause you to drop random items)

    []Looting a stack of an item will cause any excess to be dropped or returned as appropriate

    []Weightless items and Quest items are unaffected, allowing them to be looted as normal

    []Does not apply to followers, but could be made to do so if there is interest

    Potential Issues:

    • []Any items scripted to remove or replace themselves have the potential to cause issues (most notably, some Hearthfire ingredients and crafted objects), as this mod will attempt to prevent you from looting said items if you're over-encumbered at the time

      []To mitigate the above I have provided an exclusion formlist (SOS_FormlistExclusion) for items to be added to if needed. Items in this formlist will never be removed from your inventory by this mod. Furthermore, items will only be removed if enough of them are still in your inventory at the time of removal, however there is potential for this to happen out of order with whatever else is going on with those items & scripts

      • []Soul Trap: This mod highlights a flaw in the way Bethesda coded Soul Trapping/filling Soul Gems. It actually adds a new gem to your inventory, then removes the old one. As a result it's not possible/feasible to preempt/detect with Papyrus alone. Therefore every time you would fill a soul gem whilst over-encumbered it would get dropped on the ground

      • The above was unacceptable to me so as a workaround this mod will never remove filled soul gems from your inventory unless they came from an NPC or container. If you feel differently about this, or have any ideas for an alternative solution feel free to let me know!
