I was never a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series. I always preferred tight character/loot progression driven games like World of Warcraft and Diablo.  I always felt Elder Scrolls combat/gear/skill systems were very poorly done, the quests were generic and unmodded Skyrim wouldn't have made my top 10 favorite all-time games.  I have played every single Elder Scrolls game since Arena just to admire the sand box with unlimited freedom, but never really put in a ton of hours into any one of them, and never made much progress in any of the main quests before I got bored and quit.

Playing Skyrim VR with mods however, really took it to a completely different league, and I have played every major VR release as well as every AAA game out there.  When I am physically running in place to move my character, grabbing the bow from my shoulder, crouch to fire from sneak, pull my sword from hip to block a hit from a bandit, grab a potion from the floor and bring it to my face to drink, raise my hand to the air like a World of Warcraft Paladin to heal . . . it really is the single most immersive out-of-body experience I have ever felt in my gaming life, and nothing comes close.  It is so far ahead of everything else out there, it makes all other games bland and uninteresting.

You really don't need to put in a huge amount of effort to get 90% of the experience!  I started on a low end gaming PC with 6600K, GTX 1070 with Oculus Quest 2, it looks good without ENB and plays smooth thanks to ASW/SSW technology.  Over time I upgraded to 3070 which allowed me to play with ENB, more foliage mods and higher resolution.  The core experience is the same.
