📋 About This Mod

RoleRim Discord

The loot system often feels predictable and unrewarding. Gear progression is tied almost entirely to level, so enemies and chests simply scale alongside the player. With only minor variance, one chest feels much like another, and clearing a bandit camp leaves you with piles of near-identical gear.

Loot is rarity-driven, not solely level-driven. Achieving a higher level will not immediately restock the world and everyone in it. Common items are abundant,

rare items feel like genuine discoveries, and exotic gear provides a true sense of reward.

Chest contents and enemy inventories are contextual, reflecting their locations, classes and activities. Bandits, due to their profession, tend to carry more gold and valuables, but have little use for the books, scrolls, and tomes coveted by warlocks. While hard to find amidst draugr who have little need them, the application of soul gems in the creation of automatons make them relatively abundant in dwemer ruins.

Combat loot is no longer an endless cache of gear. Enemies will not always drop a full set of pristine armor and at least one weapon - sometimes weapons break or armor is ruined, leaving only what survives the battle.

There is now only one version of artifacts, the strongest (deleveled) one. If you can take it, it’s yours.

The result is a loot experience that feels immersive, believable, and far more rewarding.

  • []ESL-Flagged

    []MCM for equipment breakage configurability.

[]INI for configurability (and flexibility) on contextual loot.

[]Rarity-Driven: Restructured and reorganized leveled lists to implement rarity system taking precedence over character level.

[]Contextual-Driven: Containers/inventories redone to make contents match the locations and owner classes more realistically / accurately.

[]Combat-Driven: Enemy equipment has a configurable chance of "breaking" in an immersive way, rendering it unusable following the battle.

[]Deleveled artifacts: One version is available, the strongest one. No need to wait until a certain level to complete a quest.

[]Built-in patcher to eliminate the need for running a separate patcher or installing patches.

    Loot Rarity

All loot (virtually anything you can find on defeated NPCs or in chests) has been categorized based on material, value, power and potency. Everything is then put into custom leveled lists and loot tables in order to simulate rarity instead of entirely being based on level. This process involved restructuring, adjusting, and adding nearly 2300 leveled lists and loot containers to provide a rough breakdown as

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Roleplaying in Skyrim - Loot Overhaul reworks loot distribution to be rarity-driven and contextually aware, making rewards depend on material and value rather than player level. Enemies and chests yield believable loot based on location and class, reducing predictability. Ideal for players seeking a more immersive, less level-scaled loot experience.

✨ Key Features

Rarity-driven loot system based on material and value, not player level.
Contextually aware rewards from enemies and chests based on location and class.
Reduces predictability in loot drops for a more immersive experience.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community backing with 198 endorsements and nearly 7k downloads.
  • Aims to fix a common Skyrim gripe: loot that scales with level instead of making sense.
  • Actively maintained, last updated October 2025.

⚠️ Cons

  • Description cuts off mid-sentence, so full feature list is unclear.
  • Potential conflicts with other loot overhaul mods—check your load order.
  • May not suit players who prefer level-scaled loot for balanced progression.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim roleplayers who want loot to feel like it belongs in the world, not just numbers on a level list. If you're tired of finding glass armor in a bandit's hideout at level 10, this is for you. Skip if you like the vanilla progression or don't want to mess with loot balance.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a loot overhaul, load it after other mods that change leveled lists to avoid conflicts.
