📋 About This Mod
RoleRim Discord
Brief overview sums it up: Hides the name of NPCs until you interact with them, or they you, and changes the activation text in most situations from "Activate" to something that makes more descriptive.
-
[]ESL-Flagged
[
]Targeting NPCs only reveals their gender and race until you talk to them, or they talk to you.[]Most (if not all) special activators have more immersive text instead of just "Activate". While I guess this is not wrong, it just seems bland to me.
This mod runs a simple script to add a simple perk and then stops. This perk manages all of your "activating adventures". The MCM allows for toggling the above features, so if you do not want the hassle of not knowing everybody, just turn it off but still receive the rest of the immersive bliss.
Some examples:
Activators
-
[]Instead of "Activate Forge" or "Activate Grindstone", you now get to "Forge Equipment" or "Temper Weapon".
[]Instead of "Activate Shrine", you now "Worship ".
[]Instead of "Activate Alchemy Lab" or "Activate Cooking Spit", you can "Mix Ingredients" and simply "Cook".
[]Includes many quests / scenarios that I will not detail (do not want to spoil anything for first timers).
-
[]Prior to meeting / speaking to NPCs, you will not see their name. Only their gender and race will be revealed until you interact.
[]You will not be able to immediately "Talk Faendal", but you can introduce yourself to that "Male Bosmer" and learn his name.
This mod works by adding a single perk to your character via a script that runs one time. All activation text changes are handled by this perk. As such, this mod is 100% compatible with all mods that do not do the same thing, or change activation text.
ESL Flagged.
Installing mid-game is fine.
Character Mod Series
[]Races: Race overhaul focusing on biological and physiological differences between races.
[]Lineages: Subraces providing unique abilities and roleplay encouraging rewards.
[]Birthsigns: Incorporation of traditional TES birthsigns into Skyrim.

Roleplaying In Skyrim - Immersive Activators hides NPC names until you interact, showing only gender and race, and replaces generic 'Activate' text with descriptive actions like 'Forge Equipment' or 'Worship'. It uses a single perk and an MCM to toggle features. A lightweight immersion mod with 178 endorsements, updated August 2025.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Lightweight and clean: one perk, one script, ESL-flagged—won't bloat your save or load order.
- MCM toggles let you keep the immersive activators while ditching the name-hiding if it gets annoying.
- Community-tested with 178 endorsements and over 8,000 downloads—solid track record for an immersion tweak.
⚠️ Cons
- The one-time script adds a perk permanently—if you uninstall mid-playthrough, you might have leftover effects.
- Name-hiding can break immersion if you're used to knowing who's who in crowded cities—expect some initial confusion.
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter activation text or NPC name display, since it uses a perk-based system.
For roleplayers who want to feel like a stranger in Skyrim, learning names through conversation instead of seeing floating labels. Also for anyone tired of 'Activate' spam on every object. Skip if you prefer quick access to NPC names or use mods that heavily customize UI text.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Use the MCM to turn off NPC name hiding if you're doing a quest that requires finding specific people—it can get frustrating.
- Since it's ESL-flagged, you can safely add it mid-playthrough without worrying about mod slot limits.
- If you use other UI mods, test this one early to see if activation text conflicts appear.
