In the base game. Quests have Journal entries in addition to quest objectives. While most 3dnpcs only have quest objectives in the journal. Here's an example of a journal entry for a vanilla quest.
Apparently there's a strange jester near the Loreius Farm, on the road north of Whiterun. It would seem he's transporting a coffin in a
cart, but one of the wheels has broken off. It might be worth
investigating.
As you progress the quests the journal updates. With new entries to reflect the developing story. As most 3dnpcs quests lacked these I added my own to 39 of them. (E. G)
Rumarin says he knows a forger who could do the job. But he's currently imprisoned by bandits. We should save him.
