📋 About This Mod
PBR (physically based rendering) approximates how real materials react to light and is used in most modern games. PBR is a part of Community Shaders that has several benefits which includes more realistic lighting than in vanilla and complex material. To achieve this I have unbaked shadows from diffuse maps, created separate Ambient Occlusion maps, roughness maps, parallax maps and maps for subsurface scattering.
Also meshes needed to be updated to enable physically based rendering. I have not included meshes, so you need to rerun ParallaxGen. This has the advantage that the mod also works with Animated Water Lily mod.
Installation:
- []Install like any other mod and make sure that you have the latest version of Community Shaders installed
- []Overwrite Waterplants / Flora Additions - Waterplants with this mod
- Rerun ParallaxGen
Seasonal patch for Flora Additions - Waterplants is available here (use PBR version)
Load order:
Make sure that nothing overwrites the meshes of this mod. Except ParallaxGen

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Massive download count (257k) shows it's a go-to for PBR plant upgrades
- Community-approved with 463 endorsements
- Recently updated (Jan 2026) so it's likely compatible with current setups
⚠️ Cons
- Requires PBR support in your ENB or graphics setup, which can be a hassle to configure
- Only covers waterplants and a couple of flora mods—not a comprehensive plant overhaul
For Skyrim modders who've already jumped on the PBR train and want their water plants to match. If you're running a PBR-ready ENB and use those flora mods, this is a no-brainer. Skip it if you're on a vanilla or non-PBR setup—you won't see the benefits.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure your ENB supports PBR (like newer ENB versions) or the textures won't look right.
- Load this mod after the base flora mods in your mod manager to ensure it overwrites correctly.
- Check the mod's forum posts for user screenshots to see if the PBR effect is worth it for your setup.
