📋 About This Mod
Mod Description
Particle Wind makes all particle effects react dynamically to wind speed and direction, enhancing realism and immersion.
The effect is applied at runtime via SKSE, making it fully compatible with particles from the base game, DLC, and mods.
No meshes are replaced. No records are edited.
Particles are influenced directly at the engine level, meaning they naturally respond to changing weather conditions without any patching or conflicts.
This works by injecting the game's built-in Wind Modifier into particle systems at runtime.
The system has always existed in the engine - it just wasn’t used by default.
Works especially well with Wildfire - a WIP mod currently available in free open beta on QTR Discord server!
This mod was originally inspired by Wildfire, and because of how universally applicable the feature is, it has been released as a standalone addon.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge download count (147k) shows it's a go-to for immersion mods
- Engine-level integration means it works with all particles, not just some
- Active development (updated May 2026) keeps it fresh for current setups
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SKSE, so you're locked into the script extender ecosystem
- Might conflict with other mods that alter particle behavior or weather systems
- No mention of compatibility with mods that add custom particles, so test with your load order
For Skyrim players who want deeper immersion and love watching embers, snow, and magic react to the wind. If you're already using SKSE and want a subtle but impactful visual upgrade, this is for you. Skip if you're not into engine-level tweaks or prefer simple texture mods.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have the latest SKSE version that matches your Skyrim version (SE or AE) to avoid crashes.
- Use a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex to install the plugin and keep track of your load order.
- If you use other weather or particle mods, test Particle Wind early in your load order to see if they play nice.
