📋 About This Mod
Changes the Quest Type in the startup quests from several mods so that you will not gain experience from them. Specifically it sets the type from Main Quest or Side Quest to None. Thats all these patches do.
With the 2. 0 update to the Experience mod, you no longer have to make any changes to the .ini file for these patches to work.
This will make it so you do not almost instantly hit level 2 when you start a new game, because why would you want to.
The patch for Hunterborn requires Hunterborn, big surprise! The same principle applies for the Sunhelm patch and all other patches. You do not explicitly need Experience to use the patches, but they would do nothing.
All patches are ESPFE (.esp flagged as an ESL) and will not take up a plugin slot.
This patch stops the Experience mod from granting XP when startup quests from Sunhelm, Alternate Start, Frostfall, or Hunterborn complete. It's a small compatibility fix for modded Skyrim players who want to control their progression. With 1,809 endorsements and 1.2M downloads, it's a popular utility for mod lists.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge adoption (1.2M downloads) — clearly a go-to fix for modded playthroughs
- Tiny, focused patch that does exactly what it says without bloat
- Covers four popular mods in one install — saves you from hunting multiple patches
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021 — may not cover newer versions of the included mods or newer mods
- Requires the Experience mod and at least one of the listed mods to be useful — not for everyone
For Skyrim modders who use the Experience mod and want to avoid free XP from startup quests. Perfect for roleplayers and progression purists who want full control over when their character levels. Skip if you don't use Experience or if you're fine with the default XP behavior.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install with your mod manager (e.g., Vortex or Mod Organizer 2) and place it after the Experience mod and the mods it patches in your load order.
- If you use a mod list like Wabbajack, check if this patch is already included to avoid conflicts.
- Test by starting a new game — you should see no XP popup when the startup quests complete.
