📋 About This Mod
Near Vanilla Project - Control Cube Redone
This is a small and simple mod that re-textures the Control Cube from the Dragonborn DLC. I based this texture on Ancient Dwemer Metal so it would also fit my load order. It has been up-scaled with an AI upscaler, mixed a bit of magic, created a new normal map, processed with a custom tool filter and saved in BC7 file format in 4K.
99% Lore/Vanilla friendly.
Since the texture only affects a very small space there is no performance drop(unless you have a potato PC).
I am not an expert on normal map making but I made a version more detailed, cleaned and shiny.
Planning for the future
Since upscaling interiors and small and unique places to 4K is performance friendly for me I will start by upscaling them.
If you have any suggestions just leave a post.
Installation MO2
I recommend installing Ancient Dwemer Metal for consistence with this re-texture.Download the main file to MO2 and simply install it after the other re-textures.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 1,022 endorsements and over 62k downloads
- Keeps the vanilla look while boosting resolution—perfect for purists
- ENB Light integration makes the cube pop without breaking immersion
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021, so it might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or mods
- Only affects the Control Cube—if you want broader texture overhauls, this is too niche
- Requires ENB to fully appreciate the light effects, so vanilla players miss out
For Skyrim players who want a sharper Control Cube without straying from the vanilla art style. It's ideal for those using ENB who appreciate subtle visual enhancements. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or a complete texture pack—this is purely cosmetic and focused on one item.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and install—it's a simple texture replacer.
- For ENB Light to work, make sure you have an ENB preset installed and that the mod's plugin is enabled.
- Place this mod after other texture overhauls in your load order to ensure it takes priority.
