📋 About This Mod
LE MOD PAGE
I'm sure many players are tired of supposedly cowadly NPCs acting like total daredevils when they spot you in Beast form or Vampire Lord form, like it wasn't enough to try and scare them off with the Howl of Fear because as soon as the effect wore off, those NPCs would resume pursuing you when you've already ran off or tried to show that you're not willing to fight them, and you usually have no choice but to defend yourself.
This was especially annoying when an NPC was marked as essential so they couldn't be killed, and yet they were foolish enough to insist on fighting the player, even after bleeding out.
This mod aims to fix that and add a bit of immersion, making the player passively fearsome to most people in beast form.
And now I guess the thing Harkon said, "You will walk like a lion amongst sheep" will have a true meaning. :3
In version 2. 0 I've now extended this fearsome feature to non-player werebeasts as well. Citizens should know to run away from a werewolf when they see one!
So how this mod works is that it simply uses SPID to add a scripted ability to all NPCs which demoralizes them for up to five minutes upon entering combat with the player while you're transformed. By default, NPCs with a Brave or Foolhardy confidence are unaffected so for instance bandits, guards or Silver Hands may still want to fight you to the death.
But if you wanna take things to a fun level and make literally anybody run away from you, you can open up the console (~ key) and enter the following:
set aaaNaturallyScaredMinConfidence to 5
(Default global value is 3)
This mod should obviously be compatible with werewolf/vampire lord overhauls like Growl, Moonlight Tales or Sacrosanct.
Supported (but not required) mods
I may be updating the script to detect beast races from other mods by using the function "akTarget. GetRace() == Game. GetFormFromFile(0x0000000, "y.esp")"
Authentic Sinding Follower
Lobo a Fully Voiced Werewolf Follower
Installation:
Either install through Vortex, or manually download the archive and extract the included Data folder to your Skyrim SE folder
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition),
then enable the NaturallyScaryBeasts.esp plugin in a mod manager of your choice.
(I use Wrye Bash.)
This Skyrim Special Edition mod makes citizens and Khajiit caravans flee from werewolves and vampire lords instead of attacking, adding a layer of realism to your monstrous transformations. It's a simple immersion tweak for players who want NPCs to react sensibly to your terrifying forms.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-backed with 198 endorsements and over 35k downloads, so it's proven popular.
- Fixes a common annoyance where NPCs foolishly charge at you in beast form.
- Lightweight and focused—does exactly what it says without bloat.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2022, so it may not be compatible with the latest Skyrim patches or mods.
- Author account is deleted, meaning no future updates or support.
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter NPC AI or behavior.
For Skyrim players who love role-playing as a werewolf or vampire lord and want NPCs to act realistically. If you're tired of guards and peasants bravely attacking your beast form, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer chaotic gameplay where everyone fights you regardless.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place this mod in your load order after other AI or behavior mods to ensure it takes effect.
- If you use a mod manager, let it handle the file placement to avoid overwriting conflicts.
- Test in a city like Whiterun after transforming to see the fear reaction immediately.
