📋 About This Mod
When you open an inventory, barter, container, or magic menu, the world pauses but your character stays live with hair, body and armor physics still running. It's highly configurable so you can also choose to fully freeze the character, play around with a 3 point light system and customize your background from a blank void, to a nightsky, to a full on HDRi. It also comes with camera controls that let you rotate, pivot and pan as well as zoom in and out towards to the head.
FEATURES
-
[]Idle animations can keep playing when in menus, or you can keep the character frozen too.[/]
[]Physics in menus: with Faster HDT-SMP, CBPC or Feet of Skyrim installed, hair, cloth, body and feet keep simulating under the pause, so nothing seizes up mid bounce or explodes when you turn to look. Works on SE and AE.[/]
[]Choose how the scene looks: leave the world as it is, keep just the room, clear everything into a clean void, or build a full dressing room around you.[/]
[]A three point studio light rig (key, fill and rim).[/]
[]An optional colour filter.[/]
[]Live configuration in game.[/]
BACKGROUNDS
The picker in the settings page is a grid of easy to browse pictures. Pick plain tintable colours, a nightsky, aurora, or your own image with a brightness dial.
Run tools/harvest_backdrops.py, to find every sky dome in your modlist. It needs Python to work.
HDRI Backdrops is a separate optional download on this page.eight photographic skies.
WORKING WITH OTHER MODS
Another mod can ask Menu Studio to put a follower in the shot, so an outfit editor can dress your companion and let you actually see them. They keep breathing and blinking instead of standing frozen, the light rig opens up to cover the pair, and you step out of frame while they are the one being dressed. Fitting Room is the first mod to use it. The preview drag turns whoever the subject is, so a follower can be turned without sweeping you across the shot at the same time.
Menu Studio can also hold itself back. With "Only wake when a mod asks" ticked, opening a container to move some iron ingots looks exactly as it would without this mod installed, and the studio comes up only when the mod you installed it for says it is showing you something.
HOW TO USE IT
[]Open the inventory, barter or magic menu. Hold right click to rotate the player.[/]
[]For configuration open FLICK's default F7 hotkey (you can change this on the fly in the menu) and navigate to Menu Studio's settings.[/]
[*]Disable "Match time of day and season" if you wish to modify the three point lighting system.[/
Menu Studio pauses the game world when you open a menu, keeping your character live and posed with physics in a clean studio environment. Supports Skyrim SE 1.5.97 and AE 1.6.317+. A niche utility for immersive menu interactions, with 241 endorsements and 6,637 downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 241 endorsements and over 6.6k downloads
- Unique feature that pauses the world while keeping your character animated—great for screenshots or immersive menu browsing
- Works on both SE and AE, so it covers most modern Skyrim setups
⚠️ Cons
- Potential conflicts with other UI or menu mods that alter menu behavior
- Physics and posing might cause performance hiccups on lower-end rigs
- Limited to Skyrim SE/AE—no support for other Bethesda titles
For Skyrim players who want a more immersive menu experience or love taking screenshots with their character in dynamic poses. Also great for roleplayers who want the world to pause while they manage inventory. Skip if you prefer vanilla menus or use heavy UI overhauls that might clash.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, install Menu Studio through it to keep your load order clean.
- Test with your current UI mods—if you use SkyUI or other menu overhauls, check for conflicts in the MCM or via console.
- For best results, use a clean save or a test character to see how the studio environment looks before committing to a playthrough.
