📋 About This Mod
Lux Orbis is amazing. The whole Lux ecosystem is amazing. I love how understated, natural and muted it is. However, some users feel its a bit too understated in Riverwood, which is virtually pitch black at night. I miss the warm inviting feeling of getting back to Riverwood in the evening that we had in LOSII, with welcoming lights and promise of safety. GGUNIT is working on a mod to add some lights to villages, but until an official Lux addon is here: here's a small patch to adds a couple of Lux lights to the streets of Riverwood, giving it that cozy feeling we all want.
Features:
-
[]Sparsely placed hanging and placed lanterns (warm light)
[
]Two smaller horn candle lights by doors[]More of the wonderful Lux Orbis window light glow on buildings, especially the Inn
Note:
- []This probably requires partitioned meshes, if you get flickering lights you need to make sure you're not overwriting your farmhouse meshes with non-partitioned ones.
- I used a copy of defaultcandlelightNS for two, well, candles. This is a vanilla light source and not a Lux one, so I modified it to be weaker and slightly redder. If anyone can recommend a Lux light source to use for small candle lights instead I could replace them.
Lux Orbis - Riverwood Street Lights addon places Lux lanterns along Riverwood's streets for a cozier atmosphere. A small, focused cosmetic mod with 107 endorsements and steady downloads, last updated October 2025. Ideal for players already using Lux Orbis who want to enhance Riverwood's lighting.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 107 endorsements and over 35k downloads
- Tightly focused: does one thing and does it well
- Recently updated (October 2025), so it's actively maintained
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Lux Orbis, so it's useless without that mod
- Only affects Riverwood – if you want other towns lit, this won't help
- Potential conflicts with other Riverwood overhaul mods that alter the same areas
For Skyrim players who already run Lux Orbis and want Riverwood to feel warmer and more inviting at night. If you're not using Lux Orbis, skip this – it's a niche addon for an existing setup.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure Lux Orbis is installed and active before adding this mod, or the lanterns won't appear.
- Load this mod after Lux Orbis in your mod manager to ensure proper overwrite.
- If you use other Riverwood overhauls, check for conflicts in the same cell and adjust load order.
