📋 About This Mod
Know Your Enemy and Know Your Enemy Redux add different traits to the creatures and inhabitants of Skyrim that make them resistant or susceptible to various types of attacks. They also randomly distribute books that teach you about those traits to dungeons throughout Skyrim. But after playing for hundreds of hours, it seemed that I rarely came across those books. And why would books be hidden in dungeons and not also occasionally be found in stores? This patch attempts to fix those issues by distributing the books (infrequently) to vendors and NPCs. Originally written for use with DarkLadyLexy's LotD Skyrim SE Modding Guide, I thought I'd make it available to anyone else who was interested.
Installation
1. Install Know Your Enemy or Know Your Enemy Redux. This patch will not work without it.
2. Install Know Your Enemy - Books For Sale using the mod manager of your choice (just please not NMM).
3. Let Books For Sale load after KYE. The only file that will overwrite is the startup script. The associated plugin is flagged ESL so it will not take up a slot in your load order.
Compatibility
1. A new game is required when installing this patch.
2. Should be compatible with any mod that KYE is compatible with, unless it alters the Blacksmith/Apothecary vendor buy/sell lists. Otherwise would need a patch.
Chance of finding books at vendors
Blacksmith: 8% chance of physical biased books
Apothecary: 4% chance of alchemical books
Books of Skyrim: 15% chance of any books
Caravan: 10% chance of any books
Fence: 8% chance of any books
General: 1% chance of any books
Spell: 6% chance of magic biased books
Vigilant: 4% chance of supernatural books

This patch for Know Your Enemy - Trait Based Resistances and Weaknesses or Know Your Enemy Redux distributes the Know Your Enemy books to vendors across Skyrim, making them available for purchase instead of only in boss loot chests. A quality-of-life addition for players who want easier access to the mod's trait information.

For Skyrim players who run Know Your Enemy and hate digging through boss loot to learn enemy weaknesses. If you want a more convenient way to grab those books, this patch is a no-brainer. Skip it if you don't use KYE or if you prefer to keep book acquisition as a reward for exploration.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have either Know Your Enemy or Know Your Enemy Redux installed before adding this patch, or the books won't appear.
- Place this patch after the main KYE mod in your load order to ensure it overwrites correctly.
- If you're using a mod manager, let it sort your plugins with LOOT to avoid conflicts with other vendor overhauls.
