"Kagouti are apex predators native to Morrowind, which like all native fauna of this region, have characteristics that at least can be classified as exotic: a stocky body with a short tail and supported by just two limbs, a pair of strong legs ending in sharp claws. The head is large and protected by several scaly plates, two large horns that sprout from the temples and a large mouth full of sharp teeth.

The Kagoutis often live alone or in small hunting groups. They come together in larger groups only for mating seasons, at which time the larger females can be observed as the dominant sex. During this season, they act especially aggressive and are known as Mating Kagoutis. The Kagouti have a complex vocalization system. They use different calls for mating, for territorial disputes and for fighting, and despite being much more aggressive than their cousins Guars, Dunmers tend to tame some as mounts.

They are potential vectors of the Yellow Tick, a weak parasitic disease that affects the afflicted's strenght. Relatively common in present-day Solstheim, how they arrived on the island is unknown, possibly imported by the inhabitants of Raven Rock or by the Reavers themselves."
