📋 About This Mod
Just In Time, remastered for simplicity and usability.
Works for Skyrim LE and Skyrim SE.
Just In Time - Remastered (JITR) is a custom solution for toggling lights using triggers and lightweight scripts. This solution allows mod authors to toggle lights on/off based upon the players location/path through a space. It's useful to toggle lights off that are outside the player's view as a way to work around the game's light limitations. Surpassing these limitations causes mesh and light flicker issues while moving around an area. JITR is a solution to this problem. It's still JIT, however, the way everything works has been completely remastered.
Though the intended purpose of JIT - Remastered is a solution for working around the engine's lighting limitations, any object reference can be filled into the arrays. Therefore, authors/users can implement them in various ways. For example, one could switch out a burning fireplace with a non-burning fireplace at specific times of the day by using the Timer Controller. Or one could enable specific enemies or bosses based on the players route through an area. That's not to say there aren't other ways to do these things, however, JITR can be used to do several things with an easy and quick setup.

- The remastered approach simplifies setup and renames confusing terms, making it easier for mod authors to implement.
- Flexible design lets you toggle any object, not just lights, opening up creative possibilities beyond the intended use.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in November 2022, so it might not be fully tested with the latest Skyrim updates or modding tools.
- As a modder's resource, it's not plug-and-play for regular players; you need to know how to use the Creation Kit to benefit.
- Potential compatibility risk with other mods that alter lighting or use similar trigger systems, so test carefully in your load order.
For Skyrim mod authors who want a lightweight, flexible solution to toggle lights or other objects based on player triggers, especially to avoid engine lighting flicker. Also for tinkerers who enjoy creating custom gameplay moments like spawning enemies or switching fireplaces. Skip if you're a player looking for direct gameplay changes—this is a toolkit, not a ready-to-use mod.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're new to modding, use a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex to install JITR and keep track of its files.
- Open the mod in the Creation Kit to see the included scripts and examples—it's a resource, so you'll need to integrate it into your own mod.
- Test your triggers in-game by walking through the trigger zones to ensure lights toggle correctly and don't cause flicker.
