📋 About This Mod
Notice
As of v1. 3 / BOS v 2. 0, I consider this mod complete. If any more changes need to be made, I will happily do it; however, at this stage, I no longer use Happy Little Trees and can't actively seek out further issues. Anyone that wants to convert this mod to Xbox/Playstation can feel free, just let me know!
Overview
JK's Skyrim makes alterations involving trees, including planting new ones, adding decorations such as lanterns to them, and creating custom ones with shrubs for leaves. Using Happy Little Trees, however, will change the shape of the trees and, thus, cause issues like floating objects and clipping. This patch addresses these issues by resizing and shifting trees that clip, moving floating lanterns to a suitable branch (alongside any light sources), and adjusting the (shrub) leaves to remove floaters and make the tree look tidier.
Some of the lanterns (particularly the Falkreath one) might be in a strange place logistically, but I had to work with the shape of the tree. Some additional leaves are added to the Rorikstead trees (they're supposed to look a little dead, but the original placement of the leaves is inconsistent and it leaves the trees looking strange); I repurposed floaters where I could, but some new types had to be used (ESP version only; not included in the BOS version). Accounting for the deletions, only four additional things are added as of version 1. 2, so there shouldn't be any impact on performance. Results may vary based on your shrub textures - I designed this mod using Cathedral retextures, but the vanilla textures look fine too.
I tried to limit the amounts of edits and their scope - as a result, some of the fixes may not completely stop the clipping but instead move it out of sight so that you won't notice it during normal gameplay. Any branches that clip into other branches high in the sky, or any leaves that clip slightly into buildings, are generally left alone. Apologies for the poorly edited screenshots and the oversaturated Reshade preset.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted fix with 238 endorsements and nearly 7k downloads.
- Actively maintained—last updated June 2025, so it's current with recent mod versions.
- Offers both BOS and ESP options, so you can pick the setup that fits your load order.
⚠️ Cons
- Only addresses visual glitches—no gameplay or performance tweaks here.
- Requires both JK's Skyrim and Happy Little Trees installed, so it's useless if you're not running both.
- Compatibility with other tree or city overhauls isn't guaranteed—you might still see conflicts elsewhere.
For Skyrim modders who run both JK's Skyrim and Happy Little Trees and are tired of floating trees or clipping through buildings. If you're not using both mods, skip this—it won't do anything for you.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use a mod manager, pick the ESP version for easier load order control; BOS is great if you prefer a more automated setup.
- Place this patch after both JK's Skyrim and Happy Little Trees in your load order to ensure the fixes apply correctly.
- Check for any patches that might conflict with this one if you use other city overhauls alongside JK's Skyrim.
