I made a mod. Which someone asked for.

New idle, walk, run, sprint, jump, block, bash, and block-hit animations, as well as separate animations for interiors and exteriors. I wouldn’t say this is a big mod, but I ended up doing a lot more work on torches than I initially expected.

The vanilla behavior has bugs with animation events, which is one of the reasons vanilla torch animations looked so bad. Sometimes the idle animation gets stuck and keeps playing while moving, the walk animation inherits the length of the run animation and therefore plays noticeably faster than it should, the run animation blends with the walk animation and breaks as well.

I fixed all of this using OAR. It’s not a full behavior-level fix, but in about 98% of cases it should work.
