📋 About This Mod
I never liked the texture used for various nordic stuff, on the furniture and various other things so i thought about not using it at all. I seperated parts of the meshes in Blender then i could use a metal texture i did in photoshop combined with the scrollworktrim, there are many screenshots to look at and this is still a WIP, there are other things i want to do like the keyhole for the dragon claws to make it consistent, and maybe other things too. I would recommend looking at the file structure and backup any meshes used in this mod then you can swap them back if you need to. This uses whatever textures you personally have installed for nordic ruins plus a replacement for a SMIM texture ( SMIM is not a requirement though ). The only other texture is a metal texture i did in photoshop. In the screenshots is Skyland Nordic Ruins, may look slightly different depending on what texture for the scrollworktrim you have installed. This doesn't touch any retexture packs and doesn't touch the large door by HYPE.
IWAT Nordic Ruins is a mesh replacer for Skyrim that separates Nordic furniture meshes in Blender to apply a custom metal texture, removing the default scrollwork texture. It works with any Nordic ruins retexture and optionally replaces a SMIM texture, though SMIM isn't required. Still a work in progress, with 152 endorsements and 7,571 downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-tested with 152 endorsements and over 7,500 downloads
- Works with any Nordic ruins retexture, so it fits your existing setup
- No SMIM requirement means it's lighter than most mesh overhauls
⚠️ Cons
- Still a work in progress, so some areas like the dragon claw keyhole aren't finished
- Visual results vary depending on your installed scrollworktrim texture
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter the same Nordic furniture meshes
For Skyrim modders who want a more metallic, less scrollwork-heavy look on Nordic furniture without replacing their texture pack. If you're after a complete overhaul or want to change the large door, this isn't for you. It's a niche mesh tweak for those who appreciate subtle detail changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Back up the original meshes before installing so you can revert if needed.
- Check the file structure to see exactly which meshes are replaced.
- If you use a Nordic ruins retexture, ensure it's compatible with mesh replacers like this one.
